Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

right last year i plumbed the house. half is new half is old.

balls to fill then. worse to fill now.

story is new grant vortex (not fond of the other pipe up high and no vent on it) half the house is new half the house is a old drop system. when its full it works perfect. but gawd almighty the filling is horrible.

old system wasnt great for sludge. gave it a quick flush and fitted a magna clean to the return of the old system.

its extremely hard to get air out of the drop system.

my thoughts. is the pump (normal head pump, small bungalow) not powerfull enough to blow the air out. or is the magna clean too restrictive (i was surprised by how restrictive it is)

do the usual and turn off working rads and coil, vent every were you can and out any fitting you can. doesnt work. nothing bloody works

so basicly can magna cleans be a problem over the restriction of them

or sould you put a 6 meter head pump in for a drop system?

    Is it vented or sealed?

    Definitely a 25/60 pump required.

Proper powerflush would also be a must, but when finished the flush, leave purging for an hour.

    sorry vented system.

magna clean is coming back fairly clean. i dont think sludge is a problem

Drop downs are mares on open vented systems. Is there any reason you cannot seal it, i.e. solid fuel?

Purge & seal it with a larger pump, but with a Grundfos or similar.

I would also be paying attention to the location of the pump in relation to the vent & feed.

If it was me, I'd be fitting the Firebird HTT, seal the rad & oil side, open vent the stove side.

Solid fuel will be a disaster with a drop down.
