Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Will everyone on Eircom automatically get whatever the line can handle when vectoring becomes enabled, or how does that work?

@PeadarB what Eircom package are you actually paying for? 50/15, 70/20 or what?

    Hi Blade,
I'm currently paying for efibre unlimited - up to 70/20. With help from the eircom techies I was put on to 85/20 last week. I'm on a fixed 85/20 profile for the moment and hope to have this moved to 100/20 on a rate adaptive profile shortly. As far as I am aware eircom will offer no more than 85/5-20 fixed (for evision stability) or 100/20 rate adaptive. In my opinion, if you are currently on a 70/20 profile there should be no increased cost. For those on the 50/10-15-20 profiles there would be an additional cost to move to 70/20. Bk posted the various profiles recently and these should be accurate, given the usual parameters for SNR, Attenuation etc. I'm tempted to post a snapshot of stats since I was first connected covering my experience with the various profiles but it would take up too much space.

Can't get over some of the speeds i'm seeing posted here. Here's me delighted to be just connected as of yesterday in rural Co. Galway:

The phone checker on Eircom's website says I can expect up to 50 meg when eFibre becomes available.

Surely I'll get the full 70 meg, as I'm only ~140m from the cabinet?

This is my new 120mb connection, but for some reason both web and usenet download are slow in comparison. Up to 15mb for web downloads and about 6mb for usenet.

15MB = 120mbps so thats about right on web downloads

Ringing Vodafone on Monday to switch to Fibre. Can't wait. Bye Bye Sky.
Ping is only good because the server is down the road from me.

Vodafone eFibre after Vectoring. Didn't get a seed boost but the ping is halved.

    3432146791.png

As far as i'm aware of Vectoring is not the cause here. Your ping lowered cause your INP was set to zero. you're not the only one with the improvement, ping times have also lowered for everyone else. Same thing happened 2 months ago.

After around 3 years of being stuck with 3, I finally found a ISP that can give me proper broadband. I'm on a 10meg package but the speeds have skyrocketed recently. Company is Iveragh Broadband

Those speeds are great considering the package you're on and from looking on their website the price isn't too bad too unlike most local ISPs.

It's only been the last couple of days that the speeds have been this fast, I was getting around 7-8 offpeak and during peak it would range from 3-5. I think they upgraded their backhaul to a fibre backhaul which is probably why the speeds are so good. Service is really good though and a 160gb data allowance so I can't complain.
    Speeds are ridiculous

Anyone else having problems with speedtest.net today? It won't complete for me.
Either the download gets to near the end of the test and just hangs as the speed drops eventually to nothing or it happens on the upload test.

what technology are they using do ye know? I presume its wireless line of sight of some sort. Put speed, ping and price of the crowd i'm with in Co.Galway (and their competition) to shame...

Man that's some great speeds for wireless. North Kerry could do with some of those speeds! Nice cap too, an actually realistic cap. ISPs that think that caps of 20 or 30GBs is enough this day and age with online streaming are crazy.

Both of you on UPC, both connecting to the Dublin server.

Perhaps its an issue with the server itself rather than UPC.

Tested on several irish servers, some english servers, some dutch. Also tested on UPC's own speedtest site. All as crap as the above.

Unfortunatley only lasted for a few days, they must have upgraded the network but never updated customer profiles so I was put on the wrong profile or something. Getting a solider 7-9 mbit now though, even during peak times so can't complain too much. :P

Did you go ahead with switching? I'm wondering the same with KBB at the moment, they are good during the day but evening is very hit & miss.
It doesn't mention the install on there website, wonder is there a charge there, good specs though.

It's only a new cab. Vectoring hasn't been enabled yet. I'm on a 70/20 profile at the minute. Will get 100/20 when its switched on.

You should get it automatically if it's an existing cab. Mine was new so after 24 hours tech support could push it up.
