Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

This is a weird one. I have a UPC box connected to a TV in the living room and all is normal. The channels are as one would expect etc. In the back room I have another tv. This tv is only connected to a cable from the UPC "jack" on the wall via a splitter. So from UPC jack on the wall there is a splitter. One cable goes into the UPC box and then into TV number 1. ..and all is fine. Another cable from the splitter goes straight into the back of TV2 and gives the standard 10 or 12 channels one would expect. They are all fine except that RTE2 has no sound.

Is this a known bug of some description? Should I try to shift RTE2 to another position in the channel hierarchy on that telly?

Thanks for any tips or feedback.

Depending on the TV, try entering the tuning menu on that channel and ensure it's tuned on System I (that's the letter "i"). Other Systems such as B or G are not used for analogue channels in Ireland.

These settings would affect the audio reception.

Hi SL, It's a fairly low end Luxor flatscreen....but has a nice picture. I've gone and done a Automatic channel scan (Retune) from the settings menu so it's working its way through that now. In response to your question....are you saying I should go to the offending channel (Network2) and then enter the setting menu while there? Be aware that RTE1, TG4 and TV3 are all fine with sound.

Some TVs may have channel-specific settings. Settings on others would apply universally to all channels being received.

Just a thought! Let us know how you get on anyway.

After the rescan, the situation is the same. So now I'm doing a "first time installation" and just scanning for analogue.

The above issue is obviously about analogue cable, nothing to do with a HDMI cable.

    OP,

Is the above still the case or now fixed?

Try turning OFF the NICAM stereo (if present) and see if that makes a difference?

What town/city are you in? the problem could have been with the cable provider's own equipment for a particular area as the analogue channels would be locally modulated ?

Regarding system PAL-I setting, there have been many complaints in recent years about Walker TVs being on the wrong analogue system setting for Ireland (on B/G instead of I) so with no sound on analogue reception, however if that was the case all analogue channels would have been affected after an auto tune, not just one out of 10+ analog channels .

I had same problem with a TV working on a aerial. I rang Saorview and the guy gave me a fix by changing the settings on the TV. I cant remember what they were as it was a few months ago but it worked ever since. Try ringing Saorview for the fix directions.

This issue is nothing to do with Saorview. The OP is having a problem with UPC's analogue service.
