Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And relive the traumatic experience all over again!
    As tempting as it sounds...

    Oh God do I!
Not as much at first glance,
It was OhMSGlive that rekindled it though!

Putting :pac: and :P in that sentence does not take away from the fact that that sentence is deplorable. For shame!

I have a pain in my head from trying to remember what he wrote :(

if she knew i said it she'd forget it immediately. and then comment on how i'm getting tall even though i stopped growing 4 years ago

and yes i know that was horrible but the family try to make jokes about it because it hides the fact of how horrible it is seeing her like that. so there now it is you who should feel bad :P

    Your turn to feel bad!

Unsure if that's a genuine agreement to stray off the topic or a stab at my English accent or an amalgamation of the two!

I don't think I've used jolly in a sentence ever!
    Bar maybe Christmas :)

You've thrown me off my stride now,
Pointing out my, usually subtle, English accent,
    Now EVERYONE will notice it!

I think you slipped in the question mid-introduction,
    Where are you from?
    Living in Mallow now,
    Originally from England though..
    Knew it...

    Only certain words I thought,
I thought it was nearly gone,
    Picked up the lingo,
    Clearly traces left :P

Dunno if you know one of cashiers at the Spar shop,
    Lancashire-man also,
His is a little more noticeable though,
Good friends with him now actually :P

    living in mallow?
god help you when the cork accent and the blackburn ,was it you said?, merge fully to form a hybrid. :P

Ah yes, i'm very subtle...Don't ever lose your accent, it's awesome! Can't say I'm familiar with this chap who works at Spar, haven't noticed anyone with an accent like that anyway but then again I don't use the shop all that often and when i do i seem to always get the ignorant blonde one :pac:

What has you up this late or should I say early. I hope you don't have any early lectures! I start at 12

Body naturally repels the Cork accent,
Unable to string the two together,
    Oil and water,
    Blackburn accent yes,
Weak but present I always thought. :D

I'll be merging into no such thing!
There is no medium ground in this! :P

Oh you'd know if you had!
Same but when I do I avoid her,
Leave people in front of me to get someone!

    Can't fúcking sleep!
    10 O Clock Physics lecture,
Up about 8 though to get ready and make it,
In the Kemmy too to top it off... >.<
Went to bed about half 11,
Woke after about 10 minutes to check something on laptop,
Have to do an online Physics test before 2.20 tomorrow,
Please God don't let me forget...
Also have to finish Physics report for such a time tomorrow,
Also have to hand in Chem report either tomorrow or Tuesday,
    Which I'm yet to start...
10 to 6 Tuesday so have to find a gap to hand it in somewhere between that...
    11-1 Wednesday though,
    Catch up day! :D

But yes, I should be asleep... :/

:L Fortunately my accent is more on the 'Emmerdale' side of things so I'm not blessed with such wonderful vocal chords as the 'corrie' gang :L :P

Also, Chris, I completely agree, the jealousy is just sooo ripe in this thread :L I totally get ya with the no trust thing too, Katie doesn't even let me near her room anymore... :(

She's so small she just hides in the drawers under my bed and tries to rape me when i'm asleep. No wonder I have trust issues!

Also when Hollie/Aragneer says "for the craic" it is so funny, it just doesnt sound right with her accent! haha

I'm not small....And I don't hide in your drawers..Although now I have that idea the cupboard is just out of the window now.. :P Sleep with one eye open, m'dear.

Ha, thanks, at least I'm not a nameless, faceless person anymore but my accent isn't funny! :P

I must reiterate, I didn't think I'd much of an English accent,
Pronunciation of certain words give me away I think...

    Ah Hollie,
Naught much we can do but sympathise with them :P
I don't have an under the bed and if they manage to find a way to get into, and stay in, my overflowing cupboard, I deserve whatever I get.. :P

Only use bits and pieces of Irish lingo,
Steer clear of "for the craic, yerrah and shift"
Back in England meeting was the coming together of two people,
    Generally to chat.
Had to watch what I said for the first few weeks,
In case anything I said had hidden meanings...

In a house with 4 other people,
Soon to be 5 I think...
Installing cameras and the whole lot now I'd say.. :P

    We must compare accents,
North West myself so whatever I do have it's from there :D

Yeah, I'll replace them tonight before the open mic.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 747 ✭✭✭Aragneer

I think it's the same with me, Chris. I never ever noticed my accent until people decided to pinpoint the words that I utterly fail on..
Yes, sympathising is definitely the best thing to do and sure an overflowing cupboard may be the best place to hide and eventually give them all what they deserve :p

Ha yes I was exactly the same :L meeting was a completely different phrase and I pity myself for moving to mayo where 'how's she cuttin' and other such lingo phased me completely... And then I happened to move to Limerick for college where I'm still struggling :p

Ahh yes, I've been planning to do the same with Katie really but shush, it's my little secret :)

Ha, well it seems we may meet at this quiz on Thursday if it goes ahead and we all appear so we can compare then :)
Mine is North North Yorkshire, like Dales, farmer, country North :p So we can compare how funny each other sound :P

(See, I'm on topic! I'm talking about the quiz and meeting boardsies eventually :D)
