Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mail is taking up 10 GB of space on my laptop and I want to free up some space.

I want to make sure I archive the mail correctly to external drive without losing the information.

Using Icloud mail and Google mail accounts.

Can anyone advise how best to proceed?

    Really appreciate it.

    Thanks

Have you got a Time Machine backup running ? IF so then you have a backup of everything already. Also with GMail your email will stay on their server unless you delete it from there though I think there is a physical limit set by Google ?

Might be worth moving Movies and Pictures to some form of external storage to free up space. Also, having Time Machine enabaled but not connecting the Mac to the External drive will cause Time Machine to create local Snapshots which can consume a lot of space.

How do I find these local snapshots?

This only happens if you have TimeMachine enabled. If that's your situation then according to this site you need to open a terminal and enter:

    sudo tmutil disablelocal

You can find the Terminal app in the Utilities folder which is in the Programs folder. Alternatively just type terminal into Spotlight.

This won't effect regular TimeMachine but should clear a bit of space for you.
