After installing the lastest "S.U.R.F.A.C.E" ROM on my GT-I9000 I'm presented with the Galaxy S logo and nothing else,

Tried and tried vol up + home + power number of times now with no avail.

Everything was working fine before was able to boot into clockwork recovery ect, unfortunately I do not have a usb cable so can't try odin any help would be great.

Check over on xda for a cf-root kernel.

The best root for this phone is Darky Rom Extreme Edition v10.2, trust me I have tried plenty.

You need to flash build jvq http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GET9A3CV using odin. The guide is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYFdnaoQM5c

Then follow these instructions to run darky rom (not through odin)

I uploaded darky rom for you here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BUFQGGQU

Follow the instructions to the letter and you will be sorted tonight just in time for Christmas. :)

No problem, to my knowledge this only works with jvq so you need to check if you are running this. If you arent you should flash to jvq

Pull out the battery wait 30 seconds, put it back in and turn it on. It can take about 10 minutes the first time it starts, be patient it should work.

Failing that go into recovery (home, volume up & power) and there should be an option to wipe.

If neither work then try reflash both as said earlier.

Have you followed all the instructions in the youtube links?

Did you check to see if JVQ installed correctly before trying to put darky on it?

Try wipe all the cache data from your phone through recovery, including partition and battery stats and mount the JVQ file on your sd card and applying update from recovery mode.

Sorry I am a bit wooly on this as I have the S2 now and havent rooted it yet and rooted the s about 6 months ago.

If you've tried all options without any success then I would recommend you getting the USB jig, works everytime when I get stuck rebooting my Sgs2, those days I install pretty much everything without any fear of bricking.
    Happy Christmas
