Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm surprised Fabregas made the list. Don't think the guy has had a very influential season.

While he hasn't been his best recently due to fatigue and suchlike, in the first half of the season up to the january or thereabouts he was amazing its just you have to really watch him over a whole game to see how brilliant he can be. Maybe you're right though about him being nominated for the senior player but there'll be plenty of time for him to add goals to his game and be up there to win it in the future. I think he should get young player and ronaldo get the main one but i guess that doesn't really make sense for ronaldo not to get it as well

I'm jsut thinking about who was given the award in 99, David Ginola! I'm sure even he must be embarrassed about getting it then if he's honest with himself.

Everyone knew that it was Keane's season. Still, most of these awards are glorified popularity contests.

It's not valued anywhere. Look at the amount of posts that are on here regulaurly giving out about defensive teams and wanting less points for 0-0 draws and the likes.

How amny times to defenders/goalkeepers wion awards on a european/world scale?

i know man, its ridiculous. back in the day i thought there was nothing more entertaining on a sunday afternoon than watching 2 serie a teams try to outwit each other over 90 minutes. good times.

Personally I prefer watching one serie a team getting outwitted to the tune of 6 goals by a premiership team :D

Rooney has been nominated for the young player award, Essien would not have been in for that award.

Sorry read it wrong - just dont think of rooney as a young player.

Still think essien should have got a nod for the player of the year

You say that but eurosport has him as the most influential player in the prem.

Influence (balls played / match) /match
    1. Francesc Fabregas 81.70
    2. Paul Scholes 77.44
    3. Xabi Alonso 76.57

He also has the most bonus points on fantasy football. I know these aren't exact science, but he really has been fantastic this year, and still so young.

Do you ask this every year?:D

Its player of the year not player of the season.

No, why did I ask before?

If its player of the year so, why is it not done at the end of the year?

The football writers player of the year hasnt been decided yet either becuase Oliver holt (iirc) said on Jimmy Hills Sunday suppliment said he hasnt voted yet.

So the whole "it's a player of the YEAR contest" arguement goes out the window.

They could just as easily run it from the end of one season to the end of the next.

Or are the people votign supposed to ignore what has happened since Jan 1st?

And yet, he's not properly appreciated by a lot of Arsenal fans.

Not I though. Cesc is my hero.

If it is voted for earlier in the year, Drogba will get the senior gong and Ronaldo the junior one. Both well deserved.
