Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not been mentioned since boom but it honestly does look to be getting done. All dc projects under construction, nearing end of planning etc are on the route. M18, M11, N25, M20ish.

Is it a coincidence that they are on the route?

M20 is a good bit away from planning stage even.

M18 is almost complete, Gort-Rathmorrissey is under construction, however the Shannon-J4 stretch will always be dual carraigeway and as a result J1-J4 (Tunnel section - Rossbrien) remains DC.

M17 Rathmorrissey-Tuam same as above, not sure about the rest

N25 in a few years will resemble the northern section of the N20 with the road quality varying from poor quality single carraigeway to grade seperated, motorway standard, 120km/h DC.

The N25 is a much higher standard than the M20, its WS2 almost its entirety, with pseudo-motorway around Waterford, 120kmh DC from Carrigtwohill to Cork etc. and it's grade seperated in parts near Kilmacthomas, and Wexford town.

Northern part of corridor is shelved anyway. :p

And the New Ross bypass will start soon which will be DC/Motorway standard. Meanwhile nothing is advancing on the N20/M20 any time soon.

Any reason why Castlemartyr and Killeagh have not been by-passed, mile long queues at Castlemartyr are commonplace at evening rush-hour as the free-flowing east bound traffic from the JLT/Dunkettle roundabouts meets its first major pinch point.
Plus the road surface in both towns is close to dirt track standard.

That's the worst section of the N25 though by some degree. Agree they need sorting badly though. The rest not too bad.

Castlemartyr and Killeagh would have been done in the shelved Midleton to Youghal scheme. Castlemartyr is a rotten little bottleneck and there is a scary amount of traffic on that road. Would be interesting to see AADTs.

The most annoying bit of the road for me is Dungarvan. 7 roundabouts slap bang in the middle of a decent bit of WS2. If that ever got bypassed, the time saving would be surprisingly large.

That's typical NRA, all the bells and whistles or nothing.

Bye-pass's could be designed for town/villages like Castlemartyr and Killeagh in such a way that future upgrades to the rural sections could easily tie in.
Lets face it projects like the Carrigtwohill/Youghal upgrade which is envisaged to be HQDC or M'way are unlikely to have a sod turned this side of 2040.

    That *is* the bypass ;)

That and the new road up the hill towards Youghal, cutting out the Hairpins were built in the late 80's/early 90s

I remember the old hairpins well, highlight of a trip to the ferry at Rosslare when I was young!

Nope, a Dungarvan bypass (proper) plan does exist. Just can't remember where I saw the route options.

Found the emerging preferred route from 2010 in this thread

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=71376778

Very steep gradients from the eastern tie in to the N72 and from the River Brickey to the western tie in
