    I'm looking for a Java tutor this weekend (27th February) for a couple of hours.

    Sorry can't help with the grinds but can recommend a good book - Java How to program by Deitel. If you have access to that it shows and explains the basics very well. It also has lots of examples on CD which you can experiment with.
