Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Part Time Work

    I've been unemployed since last June but have finally landed a job. Unfortunately it's only part time. For the first three weeks I'll be in full time paid training. After that however it will only be 18.5 hours a week, done over three days. There will be some weeks when I'll be able to pick up a few extra shifts, but the norm will be three days a week.

    Will I be entitled to claim for the 2 days a week I won't be working? Do I need to completely sign off now and reapply after I complete my training? Would my employer need to sign any forms for me?

    If you're working 3 days a week, you can keep your Jobseekers payment for the other 3 days (social welfare have a 6 day week, and don't count Sundays).

    If you are on Jobseekers Benefit, you will keep 1/2 of your payment (until July, when this will change to 2/5 of payment).

    If you are on Jobseekers Allowance, the amount you keep will depend on how much you will be earning.

    Just let your local office know that you'll not be available for work for the three weeks training. They will sign you off, but if it is for less than 4 weeks, they have a fast-track process for re-establishing your claim and it shouldn't take long.

    If you have any children, and can get another 1/2 hour to bring you up to 19 hours a week, you may be eligible for Family Income Supplement - http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/BirthChildrenAndFamilies/ChildRelatedPayments/Pages/fis.aspx
