Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Obscure retro items that you still own

I came across this old manual today while going through a suitcase of my 'prized' personal possessions. How it survived this long I don't know as the machine went to the great laundry in the sky several decades ago. It was a great machine and used to dance about the floor when in spin mode.

Needless to say it's going back into the suitcase where it joins my mother's school reports from the 1930's, ration books etc.etc. is there any hope for me? :D

When I was a young child my mam had one of these. My cousin and I used to play on it pretending it was a rollercoaster. I think we broke it in the end! lol

A fully functional Compaq laptop from 1989. Won me the unofficial title of "oldest laptop in the country" by Ryan Tubridy. :pac:

Also an issue 03 Sky viewing card from early 1990.

I've a Dell 325NC, functioning with dual-booting OS2 and Windows 3 on it which I believe is a 1988 unit. Would have had DOS 4 on it when shipped.

I've got a Cambridge satellite box with external "channel expander" frequency shifter and a much newer release Sky card also; worked until there was no analogue left on Astra. LNB power failed so I used the chain output on a cheap Lidl digital box and had one channel on both polarities tuned in on it.

An old Northern Telecom push-button phone. Nearly every house had one in the '80s.

Not a hope I was letting the ma throw this away. Not sure how obscure it is but I never saw any other kids with one when I was younger.

Slightly off topic but pretty retro...a fundraising school jotter magazine my mother and her brother produced during WW.II. - a Dublin school at that! My mother was old enough to go to Belfast and join up for the last two years of the war in the WAAF. I don't think that she ever forgave Hitler for denying her her planned schooling in North Wales caused by the onset of the war. :D
