Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it likely that clarity will be given as to how the remainder of the competition will be run?

Very doubtful as the PAS are also waiting to hear on how many the Minister is going to recruit and when.

We can only go on what they have done so far which is call band 1 at 600 a time until they run out and then move on to band 2 if needs be.

It's a pity they can just inform people now in relation to there plan

Mycr89 I am a fellow Band 2 applicant, to be honest I think there is a very slim chance of us getting called to the next stage - hope to God I'm wrong.

I rang up PAS to see would they give out any information on the likely hood of band 2 applicants getting called to stage 2. I was told they are currently just finishing the interviews for the second batch of 600 from band 1 and when I pushed him on our chances he said it was probably unlikely.

Even if we were lucky enough to get called and pass all of the various stages what are the chances of us even getting reached given there will be so many on the panel from band 1.

I'm very disappointed that I did not practice more for the aptitude tests, something I very much regret.

For those that have been through the system in the past in previous campaigns, was there an update issued to all candidates at any stage during the process ?

    No man.. no update issued.
You just have to sit and bide your time.
A number of people waitied for years and years on a panel from 2009 till 2013 and no update was ever given.

Also bear in mind this is a different approach used compared to previous campaigns so no body knows for definite.

Previous campaigns were run every 6 months back when there was accelerated recruitment.

That was then and this is now though so I'd keep fit and plough on with what you're doing.

I'm placed 1357 I'm hoping to be called to stage 3 in the next 2 months. So close, knowing I'm in the next band for stage 3. But not knowing when I'll be called.

Don't see how they would say its unlikely BAND 2 will be called. Granted it may take some time but the fact that they have reopened the college and staffed it up again means that in all likelihood they intend to now keep it open for the foreseeable future. I believe that BAND 2 will be called before end of next year.. my thoughts anyway

Its the Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald that is responsible for the gardai. The Minister for Defence Simon Coveney is responsible for the army, navy and air corps.

Iv decided anyway even if continous recruitment opens up im gonna leave it a while. Theres stuff I want to do first. I joined the reserve straight out of school 5 years ago and i havent been anywhere outside ireland, never went on a j1, never went abroad with the lads. Im trying to get into a teaching thing in the middle east (the nice part) and if not go to oz with a mate of mine. Iv a few friends in the states aswell so i mite go to them. Kinda sick of this country. Anyway ill have ten years to get into the gards and if not there is no age limit on the PSNI recruitment. Theres no point in me waiting around for something that might take 3 years to come to fruitation. Il get a bitta life experience and itll make me a better gard altogether!
