Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Francis Beaufort?
    Pierce Brosnan?

    Anyone else of real note?
(Any references to Ronan Keating will be kindly rejected).

Probably Pierce Brosnan. Dont think the comedians are very well known worldwide or much further than UK.

Didn't even realise he was Irish. I suppose millions hear about the Beaufort scale everyday, but with no clue about the man himself. I'd go with Ruu and say Brosnan. The James Bond movies have worldwide appeal, so most would be able to put a face to Brosnans name.

The Duke of Wellington, family home near summerhill, the victor at Waterloo,

Maybe to lesser extent Francis Ledwige?

silent Hollywood film actor Matt moore?

Brosnan would get my vote (obviously lol) but would think Beaufort would be a more recognized name.

Don't underestimate how well known jockey Johnny Murtagh is all over the world.

He has won many of the major flat races in Europe, including all the Irish classic races, all the Group 1 (top) races at Ascot, the Epsom Derby the King George and Europe's biggest race the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. A lot of success in USA too, including a number of Breeders Cups!

    Sound fella as well.....

The Late great Barney McKenna although not top of the list the list also deserves a mention, if only to remind our Cosmopolitan Neighbours that not all their Favourite Dubliners were from Dublin.

Sorry about drip feeding the names.

    Lisa Hannigan from Kilcloon.

Interestingly and unknown to many people Vivian Leigh of "Gone with the Wind" fame although not from Meath had close connections to Athboy.
