How is everyone? We are good only that it looks like we will move house and county before Christmas. My fiancee got a new job in tuam. I am absolutely delighted for him it's a much better position and a lot more money but hell moving before Christmas will be very tough. Had a look at a house today in knock. Was very nice, lovely house but a few down sides, like always :-) will be hard to find something so quick. Does anybody know how it is to live in knock ? It seemed nice but very holy ;-) I found out that they have a parent and toddler group which is a big plus. OMG I have no clue how I will manage a move with LO and all.so fast.

Oh I don't envy you moving house. So glad all my moving is over (hopefully!). I'd say knock has a good community feel anyway. It's fairly settled and long established anyway, so hopefully people will talk to eachother, and you! Congrats on your fiances new job, well done to him!

I brought the girls to the nutcracker ballet today, with my mum. So nice. I remember going to that as a child myself, with my mum and grandmother... One of my favourite memories of her. It's really lovely to continue that. They were so good! Didn't think we'd even make it to the second half, but they watched the whole thing. Should have taken the bus though, i don't know what I was thinking going to a carpark in th city coming up to christmas, twas jammers.

Congrats to your oh Siipina :) I live in a small enough rural area and it's fantastic I'd say you will love it l!

S is back in hospital again tonight. Definitely tonsillitis so she's in iv antibiotics and I guess we will see tomorrow if she needs chest X-rays.

Congratulations on your OH new job! Fantastic news! Sligo is about 1 hour from knock but I never really visited the village there. I think it's very small. But these small villages usually have a nice close community which can be nice to have. I've only ever used the airport when I used to live in Sligo. Knock is sick a handy airport!

Cyning I'm so sorry to hear your little one is in hospital yet again! I really don't know what to say anymore. I don't know how you're still standing to be honest. Hugs.

It was toms 2nd birthday last week. Can't believe my little guy is 2 now! We had a little family party for him yesterday and he was in his element. Next year we will do the whole friends thing but I was very lazy this year so it was just family. But he got lots of lovely books and some nice gifts so was a happy little boy :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

Ah that sounds lovely Sligo, won't be long before we will all have first birthdays!

I don't think there is anything to say but I just don't think it's right that she's sick again. There has to be something she can do. Her immunoglobulin levels were normal so I don't even know what else to ask.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,948 ✭✭✭Sligo1

Cyning is there anywhere you can take her to a specialist for a second opinion or to a different private paediatrician?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

Myself and hubby were discussing that today... Doc said we will go through her chart in a bit more detail tomorrow but basically some kids are like this and they grow out of it. But she's my child and she's never right: I'm not a ftm I know normal sick and constant sick and this is constant sick. So we think a private paed for a second opinion is a good idea, if only for a second pair of eyes. It's just hard to know the right thing to do :(

Siipina i dont envy u moving . But congrats on OHs new job.

Ah cyning i cant believe shes sick again. I really hope something starts improving.
    Hope shes better soon

Oh happy birthday tom. Sounds nice and relaxed party.

My lil lady was sick last weekend with what we thought was vomiting bug. Woke up friday night vomiting in bed and had temp on the saturday but perked up sunday.
then thursday night she woke up with diahrea. Nearly a week later. Coincidently i had been to a coffee shop both times and she had some of my cakes each time (different each time) so ive been thinking it might be something from there. Ive been fine and so has L (had to give him a little taste) so maybe it just doesnt agree with her. I emailed the coffee shop and filled them in asking was thers any ingredient that she consumed both times (still waiting on reply) but poor divil still has it. Had an accident today when we went to galway xmas market as couldnt get to toilet quick enough. Then had to pull in on motorway on way home (lucky we carry potty in car) . Then stopped for something to eat and she went 3 times in about 45 mins. Everything is just going straight through her.
Im bringing her to gp tomorrow . Poor thing. We had to stick a nappy on her tonight just incase. Im now not sure if its something from coffee shop as its long enough ago now.

Oh cyning, hospital again. You poor things. I'd go for a second opinion as well. She must be under some consultant in the hospital, is it the same one each time?

I know everyone can get really run down after one sickness though, and just get stuck in a cycle of catching loads of things. It's not really done here, but in some other countries they follow up antibiotics with a course of probiotics.

Same consultant each time: he's lovely but I just don't know. It's not right that she's constantly ill :( she's out in mouth ulcers and has thrush now so will be here until Wednesday at least :( and has a rash.

Cyning, definitely eggy a second opinion. Is it mainly respiratory issues? I would go to a paediatric respiratory consultant.

So first pneumonia. 2nd barium for reflux. 3rd viral infection post vaccination: she was very neutropenic. 4th atypical seizure/inflammation in lungs/ choking incident. Whatever stopped her breathing and made her collapse. 5th tonsillitis/ear infection and now mouth ulcers and thrush too.

So who do you go see? She's also had a number of viral infections (especially post vaccination). Her immune system tests were all very normal; not even border line so no need to repeat. It's just so so hard to know what to do and who to see.

Cyning although she has had many different illnesses IMO it seems the respiratory issues are the most worrying? The pneumonia and then the lung inflammation and cessation of breathing appear to be the most serious conditions omfr what you've described? I would say respiratory consultant. And then he/she can offer different referrals as they see fit for the other conditions? Were the other viral illnesses/issues more respiratory related aswell? I would hazard a guess and get straight into a respiratory consultant. And as I said they can make different referrals as necessary?

Thank you all for your congratiulations. Saturday we signed the contract for the house in Knock. So the plan is to move in two weeks as MIL is over for the pre christmas visit anyway. So she can babzsit LO and we can drive up and down. Will be tough especially as LO is now in this funny age were I cant leave the room anymore or strangers are horroble. OH wanted to bring him to Santy next Saturday but I dont think its a good idea. He is terefied of strangers at the moment and then a guy in a red suit with a big white beard ..... mhhhhh dont think any of the infolved will enjoy a moment.
WEnt to Ikea yesterday, nope that wasnt fun. So many people going nuts, stop in the middle of the aisle. Could have shot them all. Moving before christmas, Oh what a great plan.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,449 ✭✭✭✭pwurple

Moving is tough, but it will be brilliant to be in. I was just about to ask had the separation anxiety phase started for any of you? She screams blue murder if I leave her line of sight at the moment... wants to be stuck to me all the time. Even Daddy won't do. That being said, when I'm actually gone for 10 seconds, and someone else is there she's fine, but it's hard to get anything done with this phase. Heading into the utility room to stick on the washing machine is like the end of the world for her!

Lots of frustration at not moving in the direction she wants to be going as well. She can crawl backwards, rotate and shuffle a tiny bit on her bum, and roll fairly well... but can't get up from a roll to sitting or crawling position. So I'm gettting lots of indignant angry roars when she is not where she wants to be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Suucee

My lad doesnt care if i leave him but doesnt like being on his own. I can walk out and bring A to toilet and he roars but if someone else is there (anyone) he's grand.
He's also getting so frustrated at going backwards. its not really crawling just pushing himself back when on his tummy. he is SOOO briddly he's like a slug, leaves a trail of slober . Seriously i go through about 10 or more bibs a day.

He seems to be alot better at night lately thankfully. still having 3 naps a day and 2-3 bottles (we put it in a beaker if he isnt bothered with bottle)
He's so odd with food. some days he doesnt want to eat anything, others i cant keep him fed.
He has 6 teeth now also.

A still having tummy problems, waiting on stool sample results, hoping to get some news soon as she is up and full of life one minute then down and grouchy and just wants to sleep .

Thankfully my feet are much better. still swollen but not as bad as they had been. finally seem to have found something that works . hoping the get completely better soon.

Siipina i cant even imagine the stress of moving, never mind with a small baby and so close to xmas. ugh the effort of just putting up the decorations. Was in a coffee shop recently and A took a ball off a tree and went to bounce it, didnt end well. thankfully L isnt moving yet really or id have no balls left on the tree.
It really will be so worth it though when ye get it and are settled for your first xmas.

Thank god LO is moving around well by now. He is standing and crawling and since he can crawl I dont have to walk with him that much anymore. My back is delighted about the break. On the other hand he is now always behind me, so yesterday I packed a box and he was happy to unpack it again. But at least he is through with this frustration. I drove us both mad.
The funny thing is with the seperation anxetiy is he is grand in the morning, at the moment he is busy with the shower curtain in the bathroom, but later on no way and no daddy is not good enough. Daddy is a bit frustrated. I just pray he is a bit better in two week with his granny. She is coming over when we are moving, so she can babysit him and we drive up and down to mayo.
Funny is when he get stuck and is winging for help. He is not crying just a winge like a dog. Maybe he spends to much time with our Dog. He is pulling himself up somewhere, like the bathtub and then he cant go somewhere. Its kind of funny. Wasnt so funny when I found him yesterday liking the tv.

Oh yep, first thing what goes over is the christmas decoration. So that I can do that soon. Cause I didnt bother to put up anything now. So no christmas mood at all.
Suucee, hi hi I dont know why but somehow I bought a load of plastic christmas balls last year. So delighted about it now. GoTt a fake christmas tree as well. I know for sure it will be impossible to keep him away from the tree. He is mad into everything what shines. Mobiles and mobile charger and USB cabel.

Well it was in his eyes and down under his ears. I could curl it behind his ears (like you would with a girl) or even brush it up in to a ponytail on the top of his head (i was messing one day) but the back was still short and frizzy so just got the top trimmed and tamed.
Its funny cause he was as bald when he was born then got loads very quick.

Oh my goodness! And I though my lady had loads of hair... But it is nowhere near needing a cut!

She is cracking me up with the stealthy non-crawling. I gave her big sister a biscuit yesterday for being an extra good girl... She put it down on the coffee table and went off to get herself some water to gave with it. There was a scream when she got back, the baby had crawled (backwards, she is still only reversing) and pulled herself up onto the table and robbed it. Shuffled back to her playmat and was quietly scoffing it.

I finished up work for two weeks yesterday. It is going to be awesome! Won't see a lot of husband, it is his busiest time of year, but will be superb Christmas for the girls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Suucee

Ah see with girls you can brush it to the side or something. L was just begining to look like an ould man with a comb over.

He still wont tolerate tummy time enough to move. He can move a little backwards but screams the place down in about 3 mins as he just hate it. He loves sitting and when we take off his socks he is bum shuffling a little. like your LO he goes backwards. Its so funny watching him. He looks behind to see where he is going the pushes him self back (on his bum) then stops and look behind again then another push.
When he really tries he goes forward but he is such a screaming A nearly always gives him what he wants to shut him up.

Im so excited for Xmas too. Its A's first year of really understanding. Although she is still having tummy problems been to gp twice and a&e twice and waiting on blood results. Checking for coeliac now. fingers crossed its not. Im at the stage where i want to know whats going on with her but i dont want there to be anything wrong.

Cyning hows your lil lady doing these days. Can you believe they are 9 months (or nearly in our case).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,251 ✭✭✭cyning

She's ok... We had a sweat test for cystic fibrosis during the week which was thankfully clear: she has a skin tag on her bum so we have to keep an eye on it in case it gets infected. Always something with her. But that coupled with the recurrent infections meant she needed the sweat test. I'm still not right after the worry. Just thank god it was clear. And for health insurance which meant I had no wait at all.

She's starting to climb now: she climbed into the cupboard in the hall yesterday and C closed the door on her and she started to cry. Couldn't find her because I didn't think she could climb so never thought to check cupboard!

I'm really excited for Christmas :) I just cannot wait. Like a child myself!

Poor A Suuccee... Hopefully it isn't but hope you get answers too. How are you doing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Suucee

    Yea im doing good now.
Was with a pyshciatrist (sp?) About 2 weeks ago. He doesnt think i have pnd and no need for meds . Feeling pretty ok. I have a support worker who calls out just for chat . That was every week but now every second week.
She thinks ive the bar set too high for myself and need to try relax a bit.

Physically though im still suffering with my toes. Still on the new meds which i thought were working but toes are as bad as ever since last week. Coincidently the flare up has come alongside my period but also the vomiting/diahrea bug. But im over that now and feet still pretty bad.
Had chesr xray and more bloods and back to gp next week for results

Lil man is at the separation stage. Cant leave the room for a second or even go out of sight and he is roaring. Funniest thing though if i leave but A (2.5yrs) stays he's grand but if she leaves and i stay he roars. He's mad to get after her.
Still not much moving. If on tummy he can move backwards a bit but gets so annoyed so that only lasts a few seconds.
On bum he can move a little not much .
He has started to pull him self up to stand though. not from completly flat. I was sitting on the ground with him sitting on my leg his feet were flat on the ground but bum raised and he grabbed his activity table and stood up. been doing it loads since. also if you hold him standing he will put one foot in front of the other but only taking one step.

i cant wait till he's moving or crawling but then again im dreading it. he will be in to everything.

All bloods and xrays came back clear again so just continuing meds. Ugh medical mystery .

S is furniture walking: she can climb the stairs now too: great fun altogether! How long do they reckon you'll need the tablets for?

Suuccee was it your little girl that had grommets? Doc was mentioning it as a possibility today this is S's 4th ear infection. And it's a bad one. So sick of the hospital!

You too suucee... I hope 2015 brings an end to your medical mystery and you get some solutions or diagnoses at least.

On them a month and will be for at least another month.
Supposed to be starting a new pill soon but both myself and OH think the low moods was a lot to do with that so not sure what to do.

Cyning yep A got them end of jan and been sick with a throat infection once since and her mysterious month and a half of diarrhea which seems to have settled. Before that she had croup in sept 2013 and was on an antibiotic 1-2times a month after that until she got them in jan. She had a week of being sick a few days recovrring then maybe a week when she was ok then statt again.
My parents paid for her to go private so she got them quick. Was so worth it. .
An ENT consult be no harm id say.
Like S A used to get really high temps we used to have to stril her down and sponge her with warm water.

Cant believe she is cruising. Wow obvuously all the sickness isnt affecting her development that way.

Hope you get some answers too. Id say its awful.

Suucee I was like a demon on the pill. Not Only a demon but had really low moods aswell. I tried a few different ones but microlite was the only one that ever worked without influencing my weight and moods too much. when I went off it and back on it again I got constant spotting. So since then I've not been on any pill. And that was 3 years ago. Me and OH are just being "careful"... Lol. I reallyy just can't tolerate the pill and me and OH were always fighting. I seriously put it down to that. I don't think I will ever take it again if im honest. As soon as I stopped I was like a different person. That's just me tho. I know most women are fine once they find one that suits them.

They won't do grommets under 18 months so it would be next winter... Hopefully she won't. She just cannot keep getting sick :( we go privately but hopefully it won't come to needing them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Suucee

Ah cyning. Grommets really arent that bad if it comes down to it. We were in at 7am, done at 9am and home at 1pm. she had a nap and was up running around not a bother on her after her nap. Loud noises got to her for a week or two she got upset as couldnt understand also she starting taking ages to go asleep as she could here everything. but they were worth it. This time last year she had less than 10 words. she sitting now reading a book with her daddy saying octagon and pentagon and the whole lot. Its just amazing how much she has come on with them.

Hopefully she doesnt need them and something gets sorted for her soon.
Hope your doing ok. All this hospital stays is probably so hard on you too.

Sligo. I was on dianette for years before having A came off it got pregnant then went back on it after i had her. Decided to come off it when she was 13 months to have L. When L was born i wanted to go back on it but GP said it wasnt really licensed as a contraceptive anymore. Its more for acne but works as contraceptive too. So she started me on Ovranette.

But since coming off that my moods have been so much better. My outlook on life too. I was always in such a rut . Even though feet are still sore im in a much better place myself.
Last time i was in with GP we had that conversation and i said i wanted to try dianette again so she gave me the perscription (just waiting on period now). Had a little scare recently as period was nearly 2 weeks late. I was terrified at the thoughts of being pregnant again. i was feeling sick and all (obviously stress) . Bought a test and got period before it was needed. We were being safe but still i was terrified and thats why i decided i wanted to go on it again .

yihhaaaaa finally we got internet. So happy. Ok will take a while to read all the posts to be up to date ;-)
The move went well, Kieran was brilliant but all over the place. I was just so glad that we were always flexible with his schedule, that saved our life. He is back to normal, toddlin around with help of chairs, tables walls, what ever he can get. oh and most impo he is going to bed now on his own in the evening. He wanted it and he loves it.
Everything else he is a little monster but happy.

Glad ur all settled in siipina.

Lilly had her 9 month developmental check with the public health doctor yesterday. Nothing to report really. She's in the 75th percentile for weight. I'm happy with that as Im kinda obsessed about what she eats at the moment. I think I am the way I am tho because my son was such a little savage and I had to restrict what he ate. And she's prob eating fine but my problem is I'm just comparing the 2.

Do any of your babas drink water? Lilly is taking 3 bottles and 3 meals now. She gets a bottle at 12 and her next one isn't till 7pm. And she doesn't drink anything Inbetween. She won't touch water. Pushes it away. She doesn't seem dehydrated but worrying what will happen when I put her down to 2 bottles. There's no way I'm going to give her juice so I don't know... Maybe I'll just keep trying everyday? Paul's be interested to know if any of yours take water?

Cyning, how's S after her latest hospital admission?

Suucee, are your feet any better and are you feeling a bit better yourself now?

Sligo literally Christmas week Sinead suddenly decided to drink water: after being offered it for months she drank 2oz and hasn't looked back since. My other little girl did the same keep offering and she will eventually get the hang of it. C is amazing for drinking water: also we use bottles not cool boiled for drinking because that tastes manky! Refused all juice until very recently just use it now to hide iron in every few days as she's prone to low iron levels.

S is... Well S. We got out of hospital after 3 days of iv antibiotics; there was kids in with chicken pox and vomiting bug and out of the 7 wards/rooms on the children's ward 4 were in isolation so was very grateful to get out of there. Her ears seem to be improving but she's started coughing a lot so there's a possibility on her being readmitted if it hits her chest. She's back on an inhaler and singulair so hopefully she won't. She's on a therapeutic dose of antibiotics and changing to a prophylactic dose from Friday so fingers crossed. I am literally heartbroken over it all just exhausted from it all.

Water... yes, she takes it with food, but only in a beaker. Won't touch it in a bottle. I'm sure you know to mind the sodium levels on bottled water cyning... some are high. I don't boil and cool, she licks the floor most days, but I'd say you are more wary with her catching everything.

She's gone back up to 5 x 6oz bottles though, as well as eating all round her. Tubbiest baby ever. She constantly grabs food off her sister's plate. Screams blue murder if someone eats in front of her and doesn't give her some. I don't understand how she is so hungry all the time! Her older sister is quite small, 25th percentile... but the baby is so different! Quite tall too, so I guess it's in proportion, somewhat. She's in 18-24 clothes. No wonder I was so ravenous all through that pregnancy.

Cyning that is a complete disaster. I hope to god you have health insurance. I find the inhalor makes a big difference for the chest. We break it out anytime the 3 yr old gets a headcold, as instructed, and so far so good, it just passes without turning into anything nastier.

We do have health insurance thank god: we get 75% of everything we pay back. Which remind me I have a bill to pay for the cystic fibrosis test from before Christmas. Also covers parking and 100% of consultant fees after a 3+ day admission. And if we need to travel at any stage it covers our accommodation to a certain amount too. I put it right up after her third admission!

That's mad about her clothes: S is barely going into 9-12 month clothes now!!

    Ah cyning poor divil.

L is also in 18-24mnth clothes. the amount of stuff i had to bring back and change after xmas was as funny. no one bought the right size.
He drinks water fine from a beaker too but i also use bottled here a lot of the time or cooled boiled as i wouldnt dare touch our tap water.
He is on 2 bottles. one at approx 7am and one at 10pm, he drinks formula in a beaker twice during the day and drinks water in between.
he also has a huge appetite , literally would be eating all day if he could.

i forgot about the 9 month check, ill give it a few weeks and see do i hear anything. A never had a 9 month check as they kind of lost her somewhere along the line. was only when my brother mentioned his daughters (who was 5 weeks younger) that i rang them.

Ah my feet are as bad as ever. pretty bad this morning again as walked to town yesterday so kind of took it a bit easier today.

Other than that im feeling grand. constantly guilty about everything that has happened with him and how i felt about him.
but onwards and upwards. My support worker thinks id be an ideal person to help other mums out as ive been through it and got out the other end and picked myself up.
I run a local mums fb page where we organise meet ups and chats etc and she took the details today to pass on to other mums like me. she thinks its great.
She also suggested today that she didnt need to come to see me anymore but mmm i was a little unsure so she said she would call again in 2 weeks.
