Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Player1 in Maynooth are doing a deal for Wii U Basic + NSMBWU + Smash Bros for €255. I've put money down on it last weekend.

thats a great deal seeing as smash will likely cost at least 50 - 55

Any deals going on smash for wii u?
I want the gamecube adapter version and it seems to be €69.99 on Smyths and £51.09 (€67) on Amazon.co.uk. Has anywhere got it cheaper?
Will probably opt for Smyths to have it on launch but has anyone used their delivery (ie will I have it on launch day or is it better to collect?)

they seem to be competeitive with amazon for an amiibo and the game for around 65 euro. i might cancel my amazon order and drive to smyths to have it at launch, anything is tho you cant seem to be able to click and collect an amibo :/

Nintendoland is just under £8 on Amazon if you don't mind waiting for stock to come in
Also, the Doc McStuffins Checkup Center is back down to £60 from £80, if need someone to check your ears, check your eyes or find out how much you've grown.

There's another one for an extra tenner with MK8, Super Mario 3D World and Wii Party U (so extra Wiimote). That seems like excellent value :)

Picked that up, not too bothered that it's not 2.0, my kid won't know the difference, and there's a couple of figures coming up at 5:30.

Also threw Nintendo Land, Rayman Legends and New Super Mario Bros U into the basket.

I had the Pro Controller in too but removed it, do I need one ?

It seems to be the primary second controller for the console, although if you have Wii Remotes and Nunchucks then those should do in a lot of cases.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

Yeah, already got 2 Wii remotes and 1 nunchuck so sounds like I'm sorted for now anyway.

Hoping for a Smash Bros Soundtrack soon, the Kirby one was great.

Look for the homemade soundtracks to Kirby's Dreamland, Super Mario World and Super Mario Land by a guy called XOC.
They are incredible, a google should reveal a few sources.

The Smash Bros soundtrack is unlikely to make it to the Stars catalogue given that it's the incentive / reward for buying both the 3DS and WiiU versions.

Infinity 2.0 down to £39.99 on amazon, which is grand except that it was in the Lightning Deals on Monday, so it's probably going to be back at some point....
Injustice is down to £8.50 and is a solid fighter with fun DC trimmings.
Arkham Origins is £9.99. Only worth it on WiiU if that's your sole console. The XBox, 3DS and PS3 versions were in lightning deals earlier in the week though...

And for a change of pace, the Lego Spiderman SpiderCycle Chase (with Venom, Nick Fury and Nick's flying car which I'm going to call Noleen) is £16.99. It's around €22 in Tesco at the moment, but Smyths had it as low as €17.99 at one point.... it's still a good price though.

Aside from the crummy internal storage, its pretty stellar value!

That is probably the best value bundle I've seen for the Wii U.

Can anyone recommend the kind of storage the WiiU could benefit from? Its the first time I've considered the basic version :)

Mentioned before, but a reminder, the best (most recommended) portable drives for the Wii U are the HGST Touro Mobile Pro, the Seagate Backup Plus Slim and the Toshiba Canvio

It is also recommended (if one doesn't come with it) to get a 'Y' cable

That is a fantastic looking deal. I've been holding off getting a Wii U until there was a price drop, and this is insanely good value. Especially considering you can plug an external HD into it, the low internal storage won't really matter. What's actually in the package though? Seems to be a discrepancy between the description and the pictures.
Maybe not the best place to ask, but it is possible to connect this to a non HDMI port on a TV, right? Either RGB or YPbPr?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,928 ✭✭✭dubmick

I should have done it sooner but the Collect In Store option is no longer available for any store, only the home delivery option is available (I don't think he can wait another 1-2 working days for this game, has been holding onto birthday money for months now for this game)

There was some confusion whether it was Mario 3D or New Super Mario Bros. U but its defo Super Mario 3D World, MK8, Wii Party U, Nintendoland and a wii mote included. I actually can't wait to play a few Wii games like the Galaxy games and Xenoblade, just need a sensor bar.

Disappointing on the console front regarding Black Friday deals. PS4 and Xbox One deals to beat the band, haven't seen any Wii U ones.

Maybe it's a sign that it's selling well at the moment as is and no expectations of surplus stock levels?

I had that realization last night with regards to the Wii U. Both Mario Kart and Smash Bros. have come out this year, Nintendo know they're probably going to sell a lot at Christmas, regardless of price drops.

It only comes with a HDMI cable. If you have a component cable from a Wii then I believe they work too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,164 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

So what's the best price people have found on the High Street for Smash Bros. Wii U? Are HMV selling it, how much? They've no website. The best I see is Smyths for €50.

Argos are selling the amiibos for €13.99 which is €1 cheaper than Smyths. It's not much but if you plan on buying alot then it'll add up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,537 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

The Smyths price might be the online price too - it could be €55 in store.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

I'm running a Wii U off a Wii composite cable (I know it has a proper name, but the one with a yellow video phono and red & white audio phonos) on a CRT, it definitely works
But if it's 4:3, no matter what you do you will always lose a bit of the picture at the edges and it looks rough. And you'll end up playing on the GamePad because it just looks BOSS!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,833 ✭✭✭✭ThisRegard

I noticed last night that Argos had reduced their Mario Kart premium bundle to €279.99. I checked this morning and it was still this price.

Opened a new session on a different laptop and it was then showing the old priced of €312, something funky going on, but I see it's now back to €279.99. so pretty much the same price of the same bundle on Amazon.
