God almighty, had a look at the place yesterday evening.

Does anyone actually live in the hamster-sized apartment 'boxes' in the old army base? Looks very deserted. And where is/was the Gunpowder Mills place?

The Gunpowder Mill is still there. It's down beyond the GAA Ground. There was a museum or visitor centre but that has been used for something else since. If you take the public walk up to the Regional Park you pass the ruins of all the old gunpowder buildings.

The remains of the Gunpowder Mills is still there. It's down beyond the GAA Ground. There was a visitor centre but it is now being used by The Cork Screen company, i.e. they source sites & locations for film making. If you take the public walk up to the Regional Park you pass the ruins of all the old gunpowder buildings.

You can also access the walk from Inniscarra Bridge which is on the west side of Ballincollig. Walk takes 1.5hrs round trip..depending on type of legs you have !!! You can also have coffee at Chico's Coffee wagon. Delightful place. Also, The Cyclers Rest or Inniscarra Bar is a must if you like old fashion pubs with good craic & banter with the olde lads. The "5 to 7" club on Mondays is a must. They also have a group of 10/15 musicians practicing there most Wednesday Nights. Kay might give a song if asked nicely !! "After the Ball is over"
