Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Quick Question About EDT

    I'm going to be getting EDT Lessons soon and i'm curious to know the following.. I'm wondering, do I need to be driving a manual car with my sponsor if i'm taking the manual test? I'm getting insured in a automatic, which I will be able to drive all the time, now I've just seen that the instructor will give me things to do with my sponsor, must that be a manual car too?

    You should use the instructors car to know the gears, because you will need to know gears if you are doing your test in a manual car.
    If you do your test in an auto, you are stuck with an auto.
    No prob in driving an auto, it will get you to know all the other stuff.

    EDT is only concerned with the lessons you do with your instructor. You must complete 12 hours with your instructor. Any additional hours with another driver is really irrelevant. So you can drive an automatic car.

    You can do the lessons in either kind of car. The insurance you have is irrelevant. But if you sit/pass your test in an automatic car, your license will only be for driving automatic cars. If you want to have a license that qualifies you to drive both manual and automatic cars, you'll have to take (and pass) the test driving a manual car.

    If you'll be doing your lessons in a manual car and doing your practice driving in an automatic car, that could be tricky as they are two totally different types of driving. Doing practice driving in an automatic car will help you with your observation practices, complying with rules of the road, etc which are all an important part of the test, but you won't be getting any practice at all in performing correct and smooth gear changing (an even bigger part of the test) as an automatic car does it all for you. So make sure you do some practice sessions in a manual car before you sit your test.
