Cillian Murphy has been cast in the new BBC Two drama Peaky Blinders.
The Dark Knight star will take the lead role in the new six-part gangster drama which was written by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) and will be directed by Otto Bathurst (Black Mirror).
The series follows Tommy (Murphy), a ruthless mobster whose family control the "lawless post-war slum neighbourhoods" of Birmingham in 1919.
Tommy's family are known as the 'Peaky Blinders' due to their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, reports Deadline.
Tommy finds his leadership under threat when a Belfast police chief arrives and challenges the crime family's reign.
Peaky Blinders will begin shooting in September and will air on BBC Two in 2013.

sounds like Firefly meets revolution: http://www.deadline.com/2012/08/syfy-developing-clandestine-space-drama/

Being Mary Jane [formerly Single Black Female] goes to series on BET: http://www.deadline.com/2012/08/mara-brock-akils-hourlong-bet-pilot-starring-gabrielle-union-goes-to-series/

This Kelsey Grammer project sounds very interesting: http://www.deadline.com/2012/08/nbc-buys-freakonomics-inspired-drama-procedural-produced-by-kelsey-grammer/

NBC has bought Pariah, a drama project from Lionsgate Television and Kelsey Grammer’s Grammnet Prods. Written by Kevin Fox (The Negotiator, Law & Order: SVU), the police procedural features characters inspired by the economic theory ‘Freakonomics’ made popular by authors/economists Steven Levitt & Stephen Dubner. In Pariah, the Mayor of San Diego appoints a rogue academic with no law enforcement background to run a task force using Freakonomics-inspired alternative methods of policing. This causes an uproar within the police department as the morally conflicted, conspiracy-minded academic solves crimes by conducting his controversial experiments on citizens of the city.

The fact it is on FX it stands a better chance and I hope they pick a good actor as the male co-lead

FX has given a series order to The Americans, a drama about Russian spies living in suburban America in the 1980s. Starring in the series will be Keri Russell (Felicity) and Matthew Rhys (Brothers & Sisters) as KGB spies posing as a newlywed couple near Washington, D.C., and Noah Emmerich (The Walking Dead) as an FBI agent. The 13-episode debut season will premiere in early 2013.

    http://www.deadline.com/2012/08/tbs-wedding-band-gets-premiere-date/

This is not a good sign. TBS this morning announced the long-delayed premiere of Wedding Band, giving the hourlong comedy a burnoff Saturday night slot. Wedding Band, from FremantleMedia and Mike Tollin Prods., will launch on Saturday, Nov. 10, eighteen months after it was picked up to series, at 10 PM. Wedding Band was developed as part of TBS’ 2010 shift from half-hour to hourlong comedies, which produced two series, Franklin & Bash, which migrated to sibling TNT, and Wedding Band. Wedding Band was ordered to series in May 2011. Shortly thereafter, TBS abandoned the hourlong comedy strategy, returning to half-hour sitcoms with Men At Work and Sullivan & Son. Now, with off-network half-hour sitcom The Big Bang Theory firing on all cylinders, TBS’ development and programming is focused entirely on half-hour comedies, making Wedding Band the odd man out. Thus the Saturday time slot in mid-November when many series start to wrap their originals heading into the less watched holiday season. Wedding Band centers on the bromance of four likable but occasionally reckless young men (Brian Austin Green, Harold Perrineau, Peter Cambor and Derek Miller) who can’t figure out their own lives.

    Rich,

Please keep these sorta things to the Future Shows thread.

A practically unheard show on a practically unheard of network being burned off

I'm sure it'll pop up on people's radars closer to the day and if it's worth a look (unlikely), people will post about it then!

Vera Farmiga joins cast: A&E's upcoming series Bates Motel has found a mother for young Norman Bates — and this time it's not a skeleton in a wig. Vera Farmiga, who carried on a salacious affair with George Clooney in 2009's Up in the Air, will play Norma Louise Bates.

"We are delighted to welcome Vera Farmiga to Bates Motel," says executive producer Carlton Cuse (of Lost fame). "She is a phenomenal talent who has demonstrated incredible range and intelligence in a number of landmark film roles, and we couldn't be more excited to have her join our project."

Beverly Hills Cop series, with Eddie Murphy on board, and Shaun Ryan at the helm?

Things that make you go hmmmm..... Imagine BHC some of The Shield's flavour. It could be good (although very PG if they've pitched it to ABC/Fox)

Don't know.. Eddie is past it big time!

He was horrible in Brett Ratner's Tower Heist last year.

I thought Tower Heist was somewhat of a return to form (more Axel Foley than Nutty Professor).

Director Gregori Viens' indie comedy/future cult film "Punching the Clown" won the audience award for best narrative feature at Slamdance in 2009 before a small self-distributed theatrical release in 2010. The film, which Viens co-wrote with star Henry Phillips, is loosely based on Phillips' life as a writer and performer of comedic songs, and follows him as he navigates sudden showbiz success and a just as sudden fall from grace in Los Angeles.
Now, according to the Hollywood Reporter, "Punching the Clown" is being developed into a TV series at Showtime, with Viens, Phillips and Chuck Martin ("Arrested Development") serving as writers, and all three attached as executive producers alongside Sarah Silverman and David Permut ("Youth in Revolt").
Viens and Phillips have been working on variations of this story for years -- before "Punching the Close" was a narrative feature, they reportedly made a documentary on the subject together in 1997. The TV incarnation of this project will have Phillips living with his brother, a struggling actor, and dealing with different romantic entanglements.

................developing a follow-up TV series that will revolve around Axel
Foley’s son, who is also a Detroit police officer about to undergo culture
shock. The BHC series has landed at CBS, which gave it a pilot order. The
premise, per Vulture, finds Aaron “Son-of-Axel” Foley fighting crime in Beverly
Hills while trying to escape his father’s shadow. As first reported by Vulture,
Murphy is set to reprise his big screen role intermittently, with Axel now
serving as the Detroit police chief. Foley’s son, desperate to escape his dad’s
shadow, relocates to Beverly Hills, where he presumably samples espresso with a
little lemon tweeest and drives a crappy blue Chevy Nova, while bananas end up
    in tailpipes and such...........

    TNT orders 3 new pilots:

The following are descriptions of TNT’s three new pilots:

    KING AND MAXWELL
King and Maxwell follows Sean King and Michelle Maxwell, who aren’t the typical pair of private investigators. Both are former secret service agents, and their unique skill set (not to mention their razor-sharp chemistry) often gives them a leg up on suspects and conventional law enforcement.

King and Maxwell is adapted from characters created by bestselling author David Baldacci. The pilot is being produced for TNT by CBS Television Studios and Shane Brennan Productions, with Shane Brennan (NCIS, NCIS: LA) as executive producer and Karen Spiegel (Absolute Power) and Grant Anderson (Third Watch) as producers. Baldacci serves as a consultant on the project.

    LEGENDS
Legends centers on a deep-cover operative named Martin Odum, who has an uncanny ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. But his own identity comes into question when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn’t who he thinks he is.

Legends is based on a book by master spy novelist Robert Littell. It comes to TNT from Fox 21, with Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24), Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor, The Day After Tomorrow), Alexander Cary (Homeland, Lie to Me) and Jonathan Levin (Charmed) serving as executive producers.

    TROOPER
Trooper is a compelling procedural drama about a recently divorced female state trooper who is as unconventional at work as she is at home raising her three kids. Her partner on the job is a widowed father who has a much more by-the-book approach to policing.

Trooper comes to TNT from Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Horizon Television, with Jerry Bruckheimer (CSI series, Without a Trace, Cold Case) and Jonathan Littman (CSI series, Without a Trace, Cold Case) serving as executive producers. KristieAnne Reed (Dark Blue) is co-executive producer. The script is by Aron Eli Coleite (Heroes, The River).

Looks like all complete crap on the way so far in this thread, any decent new sci-fi/fantasy on the way soon?

The actor who plays Worf is 'working on' a Star Trek series starring Worf as the Captain, could be awesome but its a long way away even if it ever gets a chance:
