Anyone crack any of their life ambitions?

Was just talking to a friend. He was telling me that he had a skydiving jump. Could only imagine how awesome it would be to do that, but I'm not sure if I'd have the guts. Made me think about the amount of things that you'd like to do before you die, but never actually get to do them.

So who's cracked any of their life-long ambitions, and what were they?

    Played a music festival
Got my songs played on radio
Then a fair few other small ambitions that i've achieved too.

Loads and loads more I wanna do though...

Biggest fear is dying and its too late to do them then.

Ive achieved some small goals. Working on the bigger ambitions but will take a few years for them to work. Set myself some new goals lately and so far they are going well :)

I'm 7 weeks away from my life's ambition - being a daddy to a little girl.

(yes, I know this makes me a sap).

I haven't achieved mine yet, but I have cracked some smaller goals.

Being awarded my first black belt was fantastic, because regardless what other grade you are in a Martial Arts style - everyone respects what a black belt stands for.

My biggie will be another few year's away.

I never went to college, neither did my wife. In fact no one in either family had the opperunity to go to college and get a degree.

But my son and daughter are both heading in that direction and I've spent all their lives setting a good example to them both as to what hard work will achieve. Its all beginning to pay off.

Personally I'd like to fight on the Irish Masters team (Judo). I'm training with them tonight :)

One day dlofnep will have his judo black belt too! For now though, it's a could of shades short.

I bled out 50 pints, going for the 100 - and a bit of china, instead of all the red pencils ... lol

This isn't quite one of my life ambitions, but when I was younger I was a pornographer.

    I'm sure that's on some people's list. :)

1 Joining the army as a teenager , serving for 6 years and having more adventures in that time than i could ever have imagined as a young man .

2 Having children was an abition i also achieved and very rewarding to .

3 Seeing a few of my top favorite bands/artist in concert was something i managed to do ,met and shook hands with a few of them along the way to

    4 Loosing my virginity (see 2 :D )

5 Flying in an airplane (before days of cheap travel )

6 appearing as an extra in a film and a few soaps

quite a few more abitions left but seeing more of ther world is top of the list .

    It's a long story!

    Really quick summary:

Ran a very successful porn links website. Decided I wanted to convert my traffic (millions per week) into a money machine. Advertised for strippers/prostitutes who want to move into porn. Got two girls to sign up (in Ireland, but not Irish.) Created a themed website around them. It was your basic lesbian stuff with a strong humour theme, basically they run a blog which has been taken over by a psycho stalker (i.e. me) who keeps putting videos of them in compromising positions online. It was extremely popular and started making money straight away. Back in the real world their boyfriends started interfering and then one of them got jealous of the other one and it got too messy so I shut it down.

I was the director, camera man, webmaster, effects person (i.e. removing scars and blemishes), props guy, you name it, I did it!

There's lots of other bits and pieces, including some legal action I had to take against a certain government organisation, but that's another story for another day. :)

The hardest part of making porn is the HR stuff.

Great idea (seriously ) as long as they dont come and bulldoze your house/apartments to build a motorway or sumpermarket under some old god forsaken spanish law that you dont see in the samll print .That to me is so wrong and evil , and also quite common

Just every time over last few years i have watched a programme on tv about spanish holiday home ownership ,it seems some unfortunate couples ,( usualy retired and put all their savings into ) were having their lovley homes knocked down before there eyes and usualy at very short notice like a few months . The biggest insult of all was they got no refund or satisfaction in spanish courts.

My world domination plans failed miserably. On analysis it seems I invested too much in the benevolence of others over the power of subversion or brute force. A heartfelt plea for total submission doesn't cut it these days it seems.

After 6 years of doing some crazy **** in college which I had to top, while sober I decided for the last college ball(which I was running by the way) to wear a sock to leave a lasting impression which it did!

Graduated with an honours degree when I and my folks were told I was a waster and would amount to nothing and should quit now a save the money(they werent try to motivate me either by the way :D )

Never came home with a scratch after a night out from someone else's doing

Stood on the 18th tee box after winning the qualifier for a singles matchplay which lasted 6 months of 1 on 1's and making an eagle for the win

Also holding the 3 legged pub crawl time from NCAD to this date is also a big moment of mine :pac:

Macchu Pichu is my ultimate dream! Was planning on doing a charity trek there last year but family stuff got in the way:( But I shall!!!!!!!

    As for my other ambitions:
    this year alone:
    (i) My consolation was going to Italy in April and seeing the Colosseum and Pompeii (my second dream location)- it's amazing, and I shall return.
(ii) Started my own business, it's still getting off the ground, but it's MINE!:D
(iii) Bought a car and started driving, not much to some people but to me it's a massive deal considering I'd be crippled at the thought of it before I actually bit the bullet

    and although it's not technically a life-ambition:
(iv) Made new friends, courtesy of the Ladies Lounge - some absolute Angels in there! - and BGRH:cool:

    Still to do:
    Fall in Love
    Buy my own home
Get married & Become a mother
Combine my current business with another that'd work around my children and animals, I already know what it'd be!:o
If I don't get to Peru before I marry - than it'd have to be an option for the honeymoon:D

Despite the "good" job. Once the debts have gone, you can really work on cracking all our ambitions.
Cazlou: a friend of mine went to machu picchu (i was dead jealous lol).. go for it.

Dropped a huge dump in the Shelbourne Hotel Horsehoe Bar Jacks recently, after a very hot curry in Peploe's.

She was half way up the pan ,so I abandoned her for posterity.

Perhaps Dunphy was the next user, kept me on a high for some days and was one of my life's ambitions.

not entirely had a whole lot of ambitions. always wanted to travel, and sorta done that, but will never do all i wanted.
always wanted to swim with sharks, have done it, sorta, but wana do it in the wild, not an artificial setting. was still incredible being so close though.

mostly, growing up, i just wanted to own my own house, which ill never have :(
always wanted to play camogie for my county, actually, which i got to do, not for long though, as i got a massive injury not long after joining.

i duno, i'd love to skydive, but there's not really all that much i'd have as life ambitions. few short term things, like getting my sleeve done, or a piercing project, or ... emmm. i've no idea what else.

    *shrug*

want to learn to surf good. does that count as alife ambition?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,508 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

    Done:
    Travel all over South America
    Skydive
Jumped off a 20m cliff (strange ambition, I know)
Swim with the fishes. And dolphins. Those wacky pink toe-nibbling eejits.

Done, but never realised it was an ambition:

Father a child. I suppose the second one is now a short-term ambition

    To do:
Run a marathon. I actually walked a marathon by mistake, up the train-tracks to Machu Picchu, effectively achieving two ambitions in one, but I must try whittle my time down from 10 hours some day!

Write some books. First one is almost done.

Balloon ride. Tickets bought, just need a babysitter!
