Just got this from hot press on e-mail.
WOuldn't float my boat but maybe some of the regulars here might be intrested...

"okay, listen up children. we are writing to you slightly early this week.
and you will understand why when we tell you that we're conducting the next
of our Mixed Grill pop-personage inquisitions this Wednesday.

The fella in the questions box, you may be interested to hear, is none other
than godfather of metal and star of the upcoming Xtreme festival, Lemmy out
    of Motorhead.

So send your questions for Mr Ace Of Spades, to us - at asklemmy@hotpress.ie
    - and we shall duly pass em on.
To read more about this deeply kooky feature of ours, and to scan a potted
biography of the man in order to get your question-forming juices flowing,
and to see a lovely picture of a man in muttonchops and cowboy hat, go to
    http://www.hotpress.com/broadcast/mixedgrill/1760459.html
    To read about the all-screaming, all-moshing, tattoo-and-skateboard-related
behaviour on deck for the Xtreme Festival, and to be in with a chance to win
tickets and (if you're hard enough) backstage passes, go to
    http://www.hotpress.com/competition/xtreme.html

    Enjoy.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled emails.

A shiny new thread dedicated to possibly one of the greatest bands in rock music...... Motorhead, a thread for civilized discussion on all lineups of the band

Always enjoyed them, have quite a few albums, yet to see them live though. Dont think my ear could handle it.

They have without a doubt carved out their own special place in the pantheon of rock/metal.

Aftershock can sit proudly alongside their classic albums

Love them.....was at their gig in the Ambassador a few years back, was brilliant!

Motorhead are heading back on the road in support of their Aftershock in February to play rescheduled dates, due to Lemmy's health issue during the summer

I find their albums pretty damn repetitive tbh, but saw them in Hamburg in 2005 and it was an awesome gig. Lemmy sounds as good as he did in the 70s

I even based my movember mo on Lemmy's :)

Saw them once aeons ago when Robbo was playing with them. They were so loud it was physically painful (at an outdoor gig!) I love the classic era albums but wouldn't have followed them religiously in recent years. Having said that, I really like the new album.

Bought Aftershock recently, well impressed with it. Have never seen them live, although No Sleep til Hammersmith is almost always in the car selection.

Loudest band I ever heard. Ever. Or will hear. Ever.

Favourite album? No Remorse. Why? Because it's the special edition vinyl with the cover art painted in silver on a leather sleeve!

Saw Motorhead for the first (and so far only) time at the Kings Of Rock Festival in Dalymount, when Robbo was the guitarist. It was so loud it was physically painful, and that's at an outdoor venue!! Definitely want to see them again at some stage, I liked Aftershock a lot, so much I bought the picture disc.

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

Haven't seen 'em yet, but they are definitely on the list of bands i want to see live.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,305 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Saw them in 2011 at Bloodstock. They played sh|te, and finished 20 minutes early. Lemmy sounded, and looked, like he has two litres of Jemmy before he came on, and slurred through the songs. The band claimed that they all had an illness, but it put me off wanting to ever see the band live again.

Luckily I had been looking forward to Gravedigger at Bloodstock, and they were awesome!

I hope they come to tour over here, they are on my list of bands that I haven't seen but really want to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,944 ✭✭✭✭scudzilla

Seen Motorhead many times over the years but the last 10yrs they have been very hit or miss, you're either gonna be blown away by them or they'll be diabolically bad

  • Registered Users Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

Motorhead have been nominated in the Best Metal Performance @ The Grammy's for Heartbreaker, and they'll begin work on album #22 in January with Cameron Webb handling the production side of things.

I really like Motorhead and have seen them a few times in the past few years.

One complaint for me is that they have played the same setlist nearly everytime.

They´d want to be shaking it up a bit for me to go and see them again.

If Motorhead come to Ireland in 2015, i will definitely be buying a ticket to go see them.

I'm loving a track by them recently I discovered on Youtube called "Whorehouse Blues".

Is there any other tracks similar that Motorhead have?

    Would appreciate suggestions.

God was never on your side, Lost woman blues and Orgasmatron maybe? Slower 'moody' tracks.

Also you might like Lemmy's spin off band 'Headcat' which do a lot of 1950s covers.

Saw motorhead at glastonbury on the box last night -poor Lemmy looks pretty fcuked -good performance even though he was obviously in poor health they even had to do a drum solo during doctor rock.

hope he gets well I doubt it though he looks very bad and thin I know he had lots of health problems recently.

Would love for them to come back on their next tour.

    Bump.

Genuinely heartbroken to hear of and see Lemmy having to end another performance on the current tour.

The man has always seemed pretty immortal and indestructible but I think Father Time is finally starting to win :(

I've seen Motorhead live twice and there was a definite difference between their performance in 2008 and in 2014. I fear the end of their lives shows may not be too far away.

That said, Bad Magic is an absolute belter of an album and proves that himself and the lads can still go in the studio.

I wouldn't hold it against Lemmy if he decided to call it a day due to his ongoing health problems, the man has done & seen it all over 40 brilliant years, he has nothing left to prove..

yeah, call it a day on the live front apart from maybe a few gigs a year, that still gives him the chance of fulfilling is wish of dying onstage

He could call it a day in terms of live performances, but still continue to release albums with Motorhead, special occasion gigs every now and then..

Check out Lemmy on latest WTF with Marc Maron (podcast). I think he sounds banjaxed and its no wonder we're hearing about gigs getting cancelled, he's still very sharp though.
