Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Work Computer blunder!

    On my computer at work, when I want to surf the net I go into LAN settings and type in the address name & port number. I do this because I'm not supposed to have the net (I'm a tech on shift) because I suppose I should be working every second! but anyway I got the settings off another computer with the net. When I'm finished I just clear all the cookies and history & delete the LAN settings again.

    But this evening I was meshing around with Imesh on the pc, and now the net is permanently on it even with the address & port empty. Even the Webscence filter to filter out any porn or unsuitable material is not working. I'm abit worried now!!

    Although when I type in like anything like "nmldssssdfoeoooo" and port "*)£JLSL" for the LAN settings it does prevent you from getting on it.

    Does anyone know what I've done ??? Can I remedy this back ??

    Man that sounds messed up.

    That really sounds like you've either changed the IP address of the computer or a careless admin has gone and forgotten to fix something.

    me think a p45 on the way mate!

    nah dont worry about it, just delete everything including the temp files
    to be extra sure you can download one of those registry cleaners to delete all the bits left over

    in college 2 months ago the admins did a "spot" check on our project pcs but they gave us 3 hours warning to delete all our stuff lol so we just cleaned everything off like limeaire kazza, (porn:confused: ) etc

    one of the guys didnt pay much attention to how we were going about cleaning up and he got nabbed for porn, had to write a letter of apology to the head of department :)

    anyway back on topic just clean up and stay cool for a few days and if nabbed DENY everything

    I've just noticed now that every computer in the factory is the same!!!!!!!!
    Can this be traced ??? Am I in trouble do u honestly think??

    You couldn't have given access to every machine in the factory. It sounds like either the Admins have gone and cocked something up, or noticing your tampering (and undoubtedly other people's tamperings too), have decided it'll be easier to grant access to everyone.

    what ever about simply browsing the net on a PC while working but installing software is alot worse and when you consider its file sharing software from the companys point of view your opening them upto a whole loads of fun things.
    If I was the admin and found it I'd certainly want to find out the cause,

    Not want to be worrying you or anything,
    but if you've accessed the net and evendeleted al ltraces from the machine, it might njot be good enough.
    since if they have traces on data traffic coming in and out they'll see you accessed the net.
    But then the good news, if you work for a big company the chances of them loggin ALL internet activity on ALL machines 24 hours a day is fairly slim.
    and even if they did the sheer effort to audit all this info would be huge.

    But then if they have reason to monitor just ONE machine, in ONE dept, when ONE particular guy is on duty, then its easy enough to follow whats going on.

    If you're on shift, other people have access to the PC when your not there.
    Shared reponsibility = no responsibility.
    Be prepared to point the finger elsewhere if need be. but just enough to cast doubt not hang some poor b.
