Ok boards is boring today so i'll start my own thread!

in the next few months i'll probably upgrade my amp for gigging.. so i'm looking for suggestions!! i really don't think i am in any need for a head and cab but feel free to suggest any.. i'll prob only want to spend about 1000e but i will go higher for the right amp!

i'm also lookin for versatility above anythin as well as a sweet distortion and good clean channel..

    lead the way.....

*edit* wattage isn;t too important, i'm willing to sacrifice power for quality.. but anything over 50w will be grand..

so what's it to be? fender? marshall? engl? mesa? mmmm

Hmm... For a decent Mesa you'd be looking at about twice that budget. I suppose you could squeeze in an F30 or F50, which are excellent amps, but not the best Mesa have on offer.

Laney are quite good for the price, nothing amazing though.

ENGL would probably be your best bet, but I'm sure feylya will give you a better recommendation than me.

mmm, i've heard ENGL have great distortion but not a great clean.. i could probably only afford a 50w 1x12 engl..

Get an Engl thunder 50 combo. Theyre about 750 on thomann. They have ext. out AFAIK also so you can always pick up a 2x12 cab cheap if the one speaker aint enough.

You could try one of these. It's on my to-do list already.

I haven't played it but ive heard it in my local guitar shop. Very cool distortion but i'm not sure about cleans. They've been compared to Mesa's without the ****in ridiculous prices.

Edit: i'm not talkin about the ministack!

ENGL cleans are damn fine imo. Very damn fine. Pop into Instrumental and try their powerball half stack. Lovely stuff.
