Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi all, the lacquer is peeling on the bonnet of my B6 Passat and I am looking for the best way to fix it. It doesn't need to look perfect but I don't want the peel to spread any further than it has.

I've attached a photo with the key as a size reference. Any ideas appreciated. Cheers.

Anything DIY is going to look fairly manky in fairness. Don't go near a pressure washer on this area as this will peel the lacquer further. Full bonnet respray would be the ideal solution. For the moment, you could just buy a small lacquer touch up in halfords and apply it to the area with the brush applicator supplied. This will "stop the rot" at least.

Sorry, but once it has started it is almost impossible to stop.
Respray or find a bonnet at a breakers would be the options really.

i have a bonnet that is peeling in large patches - its an old car i am restoring and not worth much so I have been researching the options - generally lads are saying that anything like that will need a respray as there will have been contamination to paint etc - and re-lacquering wont probably produce a professional looking result and certainly will not last long term. A small minority say feather back the edge and re-lacquer the patch - in my case I may try that - in your case since the car has value, i think that wont really be a good option for you.
