Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi, just quick question.

Steering pump noisy when steering wheel on full lock, also uneven operation when steering, like when goin in to crossroads (right or left... all samo), can feel pump kind pulsing on steering wheel, while turning wheel, can feel, it is easer and harder every second..... i know ... typical signs of failing power steering pump, and change is on cards.

Had problem with steering rack... worn pinon... plus something else.... , (previous owner must be using this car as a skip in building ), recently put on my avensis reconditioned steering rack, week or so, was everything perfect, done tracking also. now it leaks from both ends , went to garage, who sells them (6 months warranty, fitting myself) , gave me another rack, but started arguing with me, that there must be faulty steering pump, as they may make incredible pressure, and burst the seals.... (old rack didnt leak).

    would it be true ??

I am long time working with cars, but never heard that. even opposite, faulty steering pump would cause low pressure, and it wouldnt do the job right, or there is something what i dont know ?

I've had a few failed pumps destroy the racks too. If, when the pumps fail/are failing, any pieces of swarf from failing bearings or internal componants get pumped around the PS system then they can easily damage the rack.
