Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's happening to us all, we're loosing our jobs by the hundreds every week.
how do keep yourself from cracking up.
I remember some years I lost mine, I began to get into a rut.
Bed late, up late..watch tv. Eventually I got sick of it..
I started doing gardening, needless to say it nearly killed me.

how would you spend your time?.. if you were out of work.
you'd be fed up after a couple of weeks especially when the money starts to dry up. Maybe your the lucky one, you won the lotto and money is no object?.........

Get yourself a gym membership. Hefty at first, as they can be expensive, but get a 12month one. And get it at a place with a swimming pool aswell.

You can easily pass an hour or two a day in a gym/swimming pool. Also a great opportunity to get in shape, etc.

Get a time consuming hobby.Photography is something I've been enjoying the last while. After the initial cost of the camera and basic necessities, it's essentially a free hobby, as you can take pictures and view/edit them on your computer. Charge your batteries and away you go, out the door for a few hours.

FAS courses are quality too, provided you're doing something you like. I did three FAS courses in 2009/2010 and I think they were all brilliant. FAS are very underrated in my opinion (though my formal education leaves a lot to be desired).

Buy a pair of sunglasses and walk around your town looking cool and sexy.

Organise a night out doing something worthwhile with friends once or twice a week. Bowling is a good one. Soccer can be a laugh (though tiring). With enough people, these turn out to be pretty cheaply.

Learn a musical instrument. Again there's the initial cost of the instrument, but from that point on, assuming you don't get lessons and stick to the internet, it's practically a free hobby.

Look in your attic, under your bed, etc. and dig out some of your childhood friends. I spent about three hours building a Micro Machines city before (and playing with it) because I hadn't seen it in years!

Get a bicycle and go exploring. Hopefully the weather should be picking up soon so that's a good way to pass an afternoon.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

You like to "slap the bass", do ye? :pac:

I spend my time alternating between writing smutty, porno-rific fiction, gaming or attempting to learn how to sew.

But mostly the "smutty writing" part.

    exactly....

If youre lookin to get some exercise, instead of joining the gym, get a mountain bike or trial bike. Serious exercise and youre outside in the fresh air too... Builds muscle and tones you up too... Also has the adrenaline rush that the gym doesnt...

Bizarrely, I'm actually apply for jobs ;)

Other than that I've been taking more walks/bike rides, cooking for myself a lot more, catching up on books/movies, etc.

I have a lot more ambitions (ie learn another language for instance) but i'm easily distracted by my other mates on the dole and their video game systems.

Get int o a hobby that you might actually get a job from. For example start web design or graphic design. Allot of free programs out there to get started and if you put in some serious hours you might start making money out of it.

Expand your mind by reading widely and expand your .... er.. body by getting fit. (if your not already)
You could buy a shedload of books on Amazon for the price of 3 pints and getting fit just requires a pair of comfortable runners.

I pass the time by reading, writing, making crazily ambitious sandwiches and developing stupid sleeping patterns.

I've never understood those people who reckon that, regardless of the financial aspect, they'd "go mad" if they were unemployed. Have they never heard of libraries? There's always something to do.

This book has some decent tips. Although after reading it, you might never want to work again. :pac:

Agreed, its nuts. I do contract work these days with months off in between and I dont "go mad". I much, much prefer not working to working.

It works out cheaper if you just buy them. Cheaper again if you just steal one when their mummy isn't looking.
