I had the Samoan no8 in one of my teams too I think who got a try.

The Welsh 13 Allen has a hat trick but I can't imagine too many had him in. I hope not anyway!

So fantasyrugger finally updated! I really like it. In a way, it's a bit like a more detailed and complex version of FPL where you need to build a balanced team (on the field and the bench!) with some strategy involved!

It's soooooooooooooo hard to pick the captain in the FantasyRugger one :o !

Just made a last min change from Matfield to Mvovo and then from Mvovo to Kriel :pac:. The scoring is so different than what we're generally used to that it's pretty tough to anticipate...
Had I left it on my initial gut instinct on Matfield I'd top the boards league! Though happy enough to be up in 5th there :). Now to find who are the Australians most likely to feature in both their games!

    -

So, round 2 here we come biggrin.png! Beware the deadline is today at 2.30 pm GMT !!!
For the entire round in FantasyRugger. For today's game in ESPN. I don't really know for IT... This one is a bit of a mess. Like we have 20 transfers in total ?!??! Including the finals??? and IT. Transfer rules here for IT => http://fantasyrugby.irishtimes.com/Article.aspx?id=153 ;).

Not all teams line-ups have been announced. Hopefully we'll get one or two more before deadline.
Think I read somewhere that Australia were going a 2 teams route for their 2 first games, which is bad news for the fantasy games.

I've done my transfers for all 3 games. Deadline for Rugger is 2:30 for the GW and I've left a few big guns on the bench assuming they won't be playing and making use of that bench. Impossible to know just what way teams will go with selection. Only 3 transfers is a bit annoying too.

The ESPN game has daily deadlines but I've made 4 transfers and won't be touching anything until Saturday now again there.

Likewise with the IT but I think (I'm assuming and take no blame for being wrong here) you can make transfers during the GW up until each game starts. Made 4 of my 5 today anyway and will probably sacrifice playing 6/7 forwards to replace Sexton if he's not included which I'm assuming he won't be.

This is a head wreck with the higgildy piggildy fixtures!

    Jeez... It's com-pli-ca-ted :o...

Between my dropped, benched and not featuring at all players I'd need far more than 3 free subs to accomodate my FR team. The real disappointment is I made the absolute wrong call on my sub Romanian hooker (all my plan's falling apart here).

And my backs are depleted. Don't know if May & Brown will play. Nonu & Kriel are benched. Mvovo is dropped. And had planned my subs for Round 3 stocking on with Tongan players :o...

Brown will definitely play and May is very likely too, although Nowell could be a concern. In my opinion :P

I've gone for Parra in all 3 games and as kicker which is really my only French coverage bar Picamoles staying in the FT.

I wanted Fofana or Nakataki (spelling?) but not enough transfers for that luxury.

Scottish center Mark Bennett is my left field gamble to hopefully play both games and Jonny Gray in the second row.

In Rugger I took Earls out for Sonny Bill but I liked Earls as a centre on the wing but think Bowe and Fitzgerald might get wing spots with Zebo at FB

Impossible to predict though so went with players already announced to start. Savea my captain in Rugger.

No Japanese players so as not to jinx them :)

I decided to remove my IT team. Don't have time for 3 fantasy games and the fact I messed up on my original line-up makes it pointless to play now. Would have needed 5 changes today and at least 2 or 3 extra ones before the week-end. So I'll have ended up with less than half my 20 tally for the finals. I actually do think it's very stupid and nonsensical not to dissociate Group phase and finals .

For ESPN I made 5 changes (yeah I'm crazy !!! :pac:). Guirado out Ford in. Guirado is not on the teamsheet while Ford may feature twice (he started all 5 last 6 nations games). Dropped NZ Coles for Australia Kepu for the same reasons and also to accomodate SBW for now benched Kriel in the Centre (already had 3 NZers). Got Giteau for Joseph hoping he could feature in both games. Anyway Joseph could now miss the rest of the group stage. Also took a punt on Parra (for benched Pienaar).

Will see which Australian(s) to get for their game vs Uruguay when we'll know the teamsheet. Hopefully I don't need to change too many Irish players too (though I presume Sexton & POM will be benched).

For FR, I subbed in my 3 Scots (R. Gray - hopefully he comes in today and plays a big part of their USA game -, Wilson & Laidlaw) and transferred in 3 Australians, mainly for non playing players (Moore for Guirado, AAC for Mvovo & Giteau for Nonu).

Was all satisfied and then... realised I only had benched Woodcock for NZ for their Namibia game ! So, made over(deadline)time panic moves (not even sure if they'll count or what - was able to make them and I can now see it costed me 30 pts - SBW has to have a blinder now :pac: - and that the trasnfer icon is greyed over... so maybe just maybe I got lucky here) to accomodate SBW in for Kriel.

But, thing is I didn't have the funds for this move and then realised I made a big mistake in getting a £65m Australian hooker (while I could have gotten a £25m Romanian one who also has 2 games). So, since I was £5m short I eventually replaced my non-featuring-on-today's-teamsheet £30m Romanian hooker for the £25m one who starts today (a typical knee-jerk pointless sideway move we'd call it in FPL  :pac:). Ah well, hopefully Turashvili will feature for Romania double round4 games now so that I can brag about my "great" strategy :p :pac:...

    - edit -
Feel exhausted now... And this week-end RWC & FPL will coincide. I need to duplicate myself :pac: !!!

    Should have captained him :pac:

2 tries but I'd give it all up for Kapan to have won :( It's ridiculous they had to play SA and Scotland in 4 days though!!

Yeah unfortunately it's always the case with the minor nations. Think Tonga suffered from that too at the last WC and their defeat to Canade cost them finishing ahead of France in the Group stage. Though it'd probably have meant either England or Wales in the final, so from your Irish perspective it seems to be it wasn't too bad it was the Frenchies instead :p:D.

Those with Laidlaw and Pocock absolutely cleaned up yesterday. I was lucky I had Bennett or I'd have lost touch completely I'd say.

Around 600th in IT and back to about 1.4k in ESPN. 2nd in both FSA leagues.

I'm 60 points behind first in ESPN. 53 behind first in IT but only 38 behind 3rd

Fantasy Rugger I might know about this time next week :pac: I'm tied 7th in the rugby forum league after GW1 but I don't know if they've got overall standings?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,262 ✭✭✭iroced

Not a good day for my fantasy rugby teams yesterday.

Down to third in ESPN (was joint 1st before). Think you messed up your maths. I see you 20 pts behind first in the ESN FSA league (I'm just 1 pt behind you).

In Rugger was 5th after the first round in the rugby forum league. Not sure I had a great day yesterday in it...

Ah right. I see you got ambitions. Good  :D. After all if we're aiming for top1k in FPL why not going for the title in ESPN :p ?!

So that makes me 61 pts behind first.

17th in the France league (out of 1071 teams) and 56 pts behind 1st.

Fantasy Rugger [...] I don't know if they've got overall standings?
Think they're working on it. You can actually suggest "improvements" to them. Received an e-mail where they listed a couple that had been suggested to them and on which they're working on ;). I really like it. The salaries to manage, the exhaustive covering of all the rugby positions. Maybe they could change the deadlines like in ESPN & IT. They could still keep the 4 rounds but allow for daily deadlines (like in IT) and then it's up to you how you want to manage your transfers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 742 ✭✭✭ItsChecoTime

Into the top 100 (99th!) overall after tonight, going to make the most of it because I've made half my changes and just have the one kicker change left.
Still, the best ranking I've ever had by far in fantasy rugby :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,745 ✭✭✭Swiper the fox

Haven't a clue what I'm doing (ESPN) but I finally got a call right by bringing in Milner-Skudder before last night:)

I'd say it's actually a really good game this time around, pity I haven't more time as I think I'd really enjoy the strategy element of transfers before matches and watching for the players likely to play most minutes, especially against the minnows. Transfers used before now will bite us in the ass, I have 11 left, is that about average?

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,304 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Prodston

I was on Savea last night but it's the people who had both that cleaned up as most would have had at least one. I'm going backwards in both games. While still obviously doing well. Early days yet but my ambitions of actually trying to win one of them is looking unlikely after the Pockock/Laidlaw/Milner Skudder axis of the past 2 days

However the Scottish team was announced there and Mark Bennett starts again so hoping he can do the business once more.

    Teams for GW2: http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,16016_81607,00.html

They seem to be added to the list as announced.

I didn't know what Aussie back to pick in the IT game so I picked Palu at no. 8 instead so lets see how that works out :pac:

Kept my powder dry in ESPN too as I've 11 transfers left and might need them later on. Pick the right player today and you could rocket up. There's plenty scores in today's games. So I'm hoping they're spread out by low owned players.

Had Biggar for Rugger last night

Wish I had 11 transfers left! Have gone all out for the prize for stage 1 of the group stage so only have 3 transfers left! 15th overall so half a chance if Speight can get a few more today and Bennet, Bowe and Madser go well

What a depressing week-end for my fantasy teams, after my FPL epic fail.

I was willing to make 2 additional transfers for this week-end games: Sexton & Giteau out.

Either Cooper (thought he'd have things to prove) & Earls (Center in the game but at the wing today so figured he could benefit from it against a tough Romania team)
or Madigan (thought he'd get 80 min with plenty of kicks and be involved with the many tries I was expecting Ireland to score) & Toomua (didn't know much about him but an Aussie centre vs Uruguay ;)...).

Went with the latter since I thought Earls would get subbed & checked Cooper average kicking stats' (bloody stats, should have gone with my guts!)... Well they got : 9 + 8 pts.
    The former got: 17 + 19 pts . 19 pts diff :(.

When it's not your day, it's just not your day :pac:...

Oh dear oh dear :o:( !!!

I guess I was still feeling my FPL hungover and I forgot round 3 was starting today. Absolute disaster for my Rugger team ... So frustrating since I had planned it all from the start... I'm gonna need a miracle now to still be in contention...

Well I logged in to the site and yeah it says Game 3 deadline: Oct 01, 2015, 8:00:00:PM.

I guess I must thank you since I thought so much it was over that I'm not sure I'd have bothered checking for this round.

Today's game was "removed" from the game I presume .
