    Howdy all! Looking for a nice 4wd tractor around the 70hp mark. Just for a small farm, topping spraying and a bit of bog work. I have a 35 at the moment but its a too small really. ive spotted a 5340 for sale not too far away so just wondering what are these like? Are they generally a reliable tractor or stay away? Anybody own one before???

    Post this over on Farming and Forestry. Your target audience will visit there more.
    Never had anything to do with that particular model. The older version would have a good enough reputation, reliability wise. Easy started, economical, roomy cab, good slogging engine. Brakes would be their weakest point and not a lot of gears in the speed you might need them. You will possibly never use low range, unless in a slow tractor race!
    BUT, considering you are talking about coming from a 50 year old MF 35, it will seem like a Mercedes, but won't have the 'character ' of the 35. Well capable of the sort of work you have in mind.

    Fairly bomb proof to be fair. Have an older model with the drum brakes. Renew brakes every 10 yrs, costing about €200 for parts. Spoke to a man at the weekend, he has a 1995 6320. Just after getting brakes done for the first time. These are dry disc brakes. Our tractor is 1975 and will never be sold.
