I've just done a clean install of Windows XP Pro on my DELL Vostro 1500 laptop.

I'm not being prompted to connect to my UPC WiFi.

How do I activate the wifi card in the laptop so that it detects the connection?

    Thanks.

    D.

Is it OK in Device Manager, all drivers up to date?

    Is there a physical switch?

It is possible the card isnt compatible with the settings on UPC box, e.g. 802.11b/g card won't see any 802.11n networks.

Also the encryption type may be an issue until your fully updated (which you could do with an ethernet cable)

And lastly, you do know XP will be unsupported from 4 days time?

    Got it.

I had to install a driver from the DELL drivers DVD that came with it.

    Cheers.
