Knee injury

    Hi all,
Recently I went back football training for the year. Everything going fine in the first session until I started a run half way through, something seemed to go in my right knee making it impossible to run without a limp after. Its not sore while walking and a few days later I tried running again and the same thing happened again.
Sometimes when I`m on a long car journey i have to stop during it to get out and straighten the knee because it gets very sore when in the same position for a while.
I have suffered this problem on and off for a few years not only with the right knee but sometimes the left as well. Once a doctor told me I needed to build up the muscles just above the knees, which I have been doing since november but it doesn`t seem to make a difference.
I don`t think its ligament damage probably just cartilage or fluid. Any advice would be greatly appreciated or would anyone know of a specialist anywhere around Cork/Limerick who could help.

Guys, please limit advice to contacts for physios or doctors. No diagnosing on thread ;) (not that you would, of course!)

Sounds like you may have scar tissue built up inside the knee see a physio for some deep tissue massage painfull but effective at breaking up the scar tissue !

Hi Guys, I hope this doesn't seem like I am hijacking the thread, but I have a fair idea that I have a cartilage tear in my left knee and have hamstring trouble since an ACL reconstruction a few years ago. My question is, do you think it’s best to go straight to my GP and hopefully get referred to a specialist or should I go to a physio first for diagnosis?

I was in a similar situation recently!
I had ACL done few years back and re injured the knee last year Knew something was up so went to my GP and told him i wanted a referal to specialist,I was private and i had an appointment within a month!
    Quickest route i reckon!
Turned out to be nothing to serious after an examination an MRI scan but the peace of mind was the most important thing!
