FF Dublin City V Country

Just putting this out there.

Due to the fact that FF only look on for 1 seat in the whole of Dublin. 1.5 million people represented and only 1 probably in.

But the rest of the country and especially the rural areas still voted there crooks in.

Can we now safety say the educated vote is in Dublin and that the country/rural Ireland is still full of backward idiotic people with a low iq and full of people that haven't a clue what is going on in Ireland??

Dublin has its fair share of idiots too. I just got a grilling in the canteen in college yesterday, all 6 people at lunch with me were voting fianna fail and they seem quite annoyed when I said I would'nt be voting for them. :eek:

No.

You can, however, safely say that FF is effectively a rural party and that the heart of its core support has always been in rural areas. Which won't come as a surprise to anyone who's been watching election results for years. Equally, in the country, more TDs are likely to get a personal vote based on their relationship with the community and more supporters knowing their neighbours personally. And the parish pump mentality is still alive in Ireland, more especially in rural Ireland probably more to the higher numbers having explicit ties to their local areas. The core support for Labour has long been in the cities and the core support for parties like Fianna Fail has always been in the country. Strip away all of the non-core support and that's what you're left with.

Good point indeed but I do think IQ and economic awareness/education is a factor also

I'd be inclined to disagree with that. It's all too easy to dismiss people you disagree with as uneducated and unaware.

Bear in mind that we have only about 40 seats filled - there is a long way to go yet (although it does look likely)!

Dublin isn't different. What it does have is support for the Labour party who can step up and capture a lot of votes in this election.
There areas in Ireland that haven't seen a Labour TD in 20 years and the cumann system is very poor.
But this isn't news, most of their voters are in urban areas, same as the Green Party.

Just because you don't agree with someone OP, you can't just dismiss them as low IQ. We all have the same school system.

Look at Labours vote and they sold themselves to union and public sector workers n Dublin just sold out to a different owner than some rural areas.

You are aware that our next taoiseach, and probably the next tanaiste, are both from rural Ireland. Sure, one of them even ran in a Dublin constituency :rolleyes:. Seriously tho', I welcome FF's defeat, and this is particularly the case in Dublin, but also true of many rural areas such as Connaught and Donegal where no FF candidates have been elected yet. No, that honor is reserved for Longford, Kerry, Donegal. A lot of places have more unemployment than Dublin.

Dublin has more working class factory workers, which tend not to vote FF.
