Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This or an Ouya, what would be better for streaming and emulators?

Anyone have much experience with either model / brand? :)

It's the feedback I'm concerned about. All as a buyer(20). None as a seller.

I reckon it's a typo anyway. Probe meant to be €137.37, and not €37.37 as listed. Not gonna chance it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,609 ✭✭✭dubrov

    Almost certainly a typo.
You couldn't manufacture that box for £29.95

Changed my mind and purchased from Ebay. Will let you know how it goes. 8 sold so far, and some payments accepted. Protected by paypal anyway.

Ouya would surely be better for emulators seeing as it supports controllers

I have an ouya and I really like it. Its the best XBMC I've had.

I do not stream from XBMC plugins with it though

You also have the advantage of having its dedicated games as well (including my amazing one .... :pac:)

From my reading you can tell them not to open to install xbmc or tell them to open if you want XBMC installed. Just wondering did they email you asking this question?

I am tempted to buy one of these, anyone know what happens with paypal? do I just open up case if this isnt the product it is supposed to be?

Could they be trying to pass of one of the no name versions as Minix?

Guess it would depend on how this would support a PS3 controller or similar. They're the same price and I think there would be better XBMC support for the Ouya than for this but I'm a bit torn!

You can sync a PS3 controller to the Ouya, as well as wireless 360 controllers using the USB adapter thing.

There is a small bit of faffing about getting the PS3 controller synced, involving turning off the Ouya, but once its synced its good to go til you sync it to something else

The majority of the games support the PS3 and 360 controllers, there might be the odd one or two that doesn't

I ordered one from Geek Buying but was stung by customs for 33 euro bringing the cost up to €144 which I think is still a great price for this. It will be delivered on Monday.
It comes with XBMC preinnstalled. The youtube reviews are very positive, cant wait.
Big selling point for me was Chrome and a browser (to watch streaming videos) and apps. Have got a nice bluetooth keyboard for it so should be a great media center. Comes with an air mouse at that price, hard to beat imho

Think there is an Irish company selling it for approx 155 or so (might be no air mouse with that though)

Ones I saw at that price were not the "H" version which are retailing around €180 here. If there are ones here for 155 and are the H version with an Airmouse would definitely have gone with them, has taken a month to get it delivered from Geekbuying in Singapore

They have different processors and storage, i guess storage is the easiest way to see, the H version has 16gb vs 8gb for the non H version.

And something else I can't remember

6€ for courier delivery. They're in Waterford.

New to these but have used showbox and modro on my s5.
If in was using this to watch TV is the interface like a pc. Ie with ntl / sky you just click up or down or browse other listening while watching the channel before you change. Can these be set up the same way? Sorry if it's a stupid question but Mrs Brightkane wouldn't be convinced if it's not on at her Finget tips!
    Cheers

Check the link above for the Irish website - it has contact details. I haven't bought (need to sell my ATV) but have been following the ad on Adverts and seller seems very accommodating and helpful - has even loaned units to people so they could check whether their broadband was up to streaming with it. Seems a good price and you have the reassurance of dealing with someone local who can be contacted by phone and email and has great reviews.

    That would have been hassle.

Checked the feedback on the seller on Amazon. Nobody has had any problem with customs.

Got mine delivered to parcel motel. They would have turned it away if there were fees.

    There's the one I bought.

Curious about this product and had a look on adverts. Noticed the URL pointed to "audio-comm" and that they are based in Louth.

There is an audio-comm shop in Dundalk and assuming it is the same guy, I have known the owner and family for a long long time - bought my first mobile phone from him in 1997 if I am not mistaken :D

Probably goes without saying but he is a good guy.

This is not the case lad. He was forced to change his username on Adverts to Smart-TV Ireland due to the confusion. I contacted the Adverts admins on Audio-Comms' behalf.

I ordered the H version from Futeko on Thursday afternoon and it was delivered this morning. If you dont want to wait 3 or so weeks or cant be bothered with Parcel Motel I would highly recommend them! It was €150 inc delivery and the M1 airmouse.

I received the same service from them when I ordered my Minix Neo x7 last month.

I also picked up another one of these from Amazon for the x8 because I was so impressed with the one I got for the x7.

Folks, if you're getting a Neo, I have the remote and don't bother with it. I use an App downloaded from the Minix site for my remote and it's more user friendly than a wand / remote I find.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,483 ✭✭✭✭Supercell

The remote is utterly useless with it, agreed, However my wireless mouse works great with it. I got a Anker bluetooth keyboard on amazon, and between that and the mouse i'm sorted. Typing this using them and reading it on the telly, v weird!!

With four kids I dont fancy having to hand over my phone/device every time they want to change something on the Neo!

Sometimes a remote is a must! But you are right, the one that comes with the x7 is sh!te. I am looking forward to using the air mouse with the x8 as it looks slick in comparison to the blocky remotes!
