Today is the anniversary of arguably the greatest Rangers manager ever on this day in 1956 the great Bill Struth died I would ask all the Rangers fans especially to take a minute and think of the positive things he done for our club.
    R.I.P. Bill Struth

Oh the dignified one with his insistence on players wearing shirt and tie to training and what about the bowler hats.

The following is a quote from him. What a pretentious jumped up clown. I wonder what he would make of the likes of Lafferty and Mac Gregor being part of THE ranegrs team?
To be a Ranger is to sense the sacred trust of upholding all that such a name means in this shrine of football. They must be true in their conception of what the Ibrox tradition seeks from them. No true Ranger has ever failed in the tradition set him."

A successful mamager though, no question about that.

    Pretentious jumped up clown really

"Celtic jerseys are not for second best, they don't shrink to fit inferior players"

'A man must be a Celt on and off the field, otherwise he is of no value to this club'.

Two quotes that could be said are every bit as pretentious

As for his dress and discipline code it was a different era but personally I don't have any problems with it he was trying to bring self discipline to the players no bad thing in my mind.

What would he think of players like McGregor or Lafferty not a lot I imagine

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,704 ✭✭✭Broxi_Bear_Eire

Wouldn't expect anything else from a man that was so ashamed of his own name he had to change it

And rightly so all Rangers players should be wearing a tie and suit. They need to know what it means to be a Ranger.

A suit doesnt change the demeanour a person though, they were well dressed bigots but bigots nonetheless

    How were they bigots ?

There wasn't a minute's silence, only black armbands worn by both teams.
And no, I was in the pub ;)

Bite what? You know your own history, the policies in place and those who played in the name of those policies.

Typical though, look down your nose at point of views that differ from your own no matter what the facts are

We don't have the honour to play for The Rangers as we aren't good enough. So all who are good enough should lead by example and show us what is required to be a Ranger.

Well if they lead, how come the fans dont follow?? Surely if they really understand what it is to be A ranger, they will dress accordingly and behave themselves.

    Pioneers?? Who??

The Gallant Pioneers - Google is your friend :p

Basically the Pioneers were the founders of the club

If you had put some fans in there it would have been better unfortunately its the nature of the beast much the same as your club who preach inclusiveness not all do

Yes I know the history of the club probably better than your good self we must never forget it either but while we are moving on certain factions of opposition fans keep using it as a stick to beat us with whilst forgetting there own clubs failings

Both teams wore black armbands for the Welsh miners, same as the majority of English teams at the weekend. There was never any official intent on having a minutes silence.

I wasn't at the game as I have trouble walking at the moment but as soon as I am fit enough I will be heading back on a regular basis and let's face it there's not that many bears on here as far as I know EB wasn't there as he was moving house last week. Been talking to fellow bears there was no announcement about a minutes silence it was stated clearly days before the game that there would be a small service before the game at the JG statue so it must have been the drink talking Lubo ;)

I never heard anything about a minute's silence, this was already common knowledge among Bears before the game that black armbands would be the only thing.

There was a small ceremony before the game, at John Greig's statue.

Bill Struth dressed up bigots, try not to get too upset by the fact

You really should remember what you posted but then if you are busy foaming at the mouth with your small minded bigotry you maybe didn't see it.

As Jelle says how were the players bigots and I suppose that would include the RC's that played for the club during that horrendous time

And once again you prove my point its impossible for you to come into this thread and discuss football or have a laugh unlike most of your fellow Celtic fans

Foaming at the mouth? You are deluded and how am I a bigot? You seem to resort to childish name calling any time you dont like what I post these days.

This thread is for discussing Rangers, not for whatever you think people should be discussing.

Correct it is for discussing Rangers the problem is you can never or very rarely discus the football side of things deluded not me that's your job hardly childish considering some of the posts you have written about us.
You don't like anyone standing up to you and not answering your rants tough as long as you continue with your attitude I will answer you with exactly how I feel

Maybe I should use something that's been thrown at me often ;)

'You're not on the huddleboard/kerrydalestreet/..., back up your claims'

How exactly were those players bigots ?
    I'm dying to know.

Anyhoo, winning at Dunfermline, Goian went off on a stretcher but man-mountain that he is he came on a few minutes later again

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,704 ✭✭✭Broxi_Bear_Eire

Good first half from the Gers with goals from Bocanegra and a cracker from Edu though Naismith is a very lucky boy to still be on the park after a stupid elbow on a Dunfermline player

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

Brines saw it and did nothing (From what I heard, can't see the game), so don't think it was on purpose.

Your justification for childish name calling is that I dont discuss what you think I should be discussing? Seems that you are a mind reader in your spare time too

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

You said that Struth dressed bigots, after there was something mentioned about Rangers players in those days having to dress in suits.

It's pretty clear what you meant.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

From what I hear we're tearing Dunfermline apart at will.
Why couldn't they do this against Falkirk ?

    edit: 4-0 :D

No my justification for any term I use for you and its not name calling is the simple fact that you seem unable to talk about anything football regarding Rangers which says a lot more about your outlook.

because after we beat Celtic last weekend our players seemed to think they just had to turn up add to that Falkirk put out a young hungry team who got in our faces and we had McCulloch who has got even slower than last season and slows the game down so much
It was a recipe for disaster
