    Hi,
I have just been told of someone in my locality who has found a baby raptor of some sort that is about the size of a pigeon and cannot fly. Is there anywhere in Ireland that caters for injured or orphaned birds of this type. I havent seen the bird yet so cant describe it. I am based in Leitrim.
    Many thanks.

oh i did manage to find a raptor rescue on myspace in donegal but cannot contact the person as i am not registered

I don't know much myself but until someone who knows more comes along you might might find useful contacts here:

Try Lothar Muschketat at Eagles Flying Raptor Centre.

He will let you see the bird being released too.

    Lads,
If you find a raptor, the first place to contact is the NPWS. In a place like Leitrim, this bird could be critically important - if you can't identify it, then it might be a Golden Eagle from the Donegal birds. Here is the raptor re-introduction site :
    http://www.goldeneagle.ie/

These guys are the experts and time is critical :
    Golden Eagle project manager
    Lorcán O'Toole

    White Tailed Eagle project manager
    Dr. Allan Mee
    +353 87 3117608
    Red Kite project manager
    Damian Clarke
    +353 86 3284463

The general NPWS site is here :
