Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nissan Micra Auto Battery Problem?

I drive a 2008 nissan micra 1.4 automatic. The only problem so far with it over the five years was the accelerator pedal having to be replaced during last summer. Anyway went to go out yesterday and it wouldn’t start. The lights on the dashboard came on ok and it would open and close although the lights for the alarm didn’t flash as normal. The doors locked but the boot wouldn’t. Anyway after trying to start her with the charger attached it wouldn’t so my dad jump started it with his car and away i went. Driving along and noticed the dashboard lights sort of flashing and wheni went to flash the lights the car started to cut out and the power steering light flashed. The car kept going but the revs went right down and then it picked up again after a few minutes, tried to flash again half an hour later and the same thing. Drove for an hour and parked up and it wouldn’t start again but did when my dad jump started her. Am i right in thinking the battery is brown bread? The doors locked over night but the boot wouldn’t.

Grab a multimeter and check the battery voltage across the terminals. Do it both with the battery attached and the engine running - should be around 14.3V - and also with the car turned off. You should ideally see about 12.6V. Anything much below about 12.3V means it's unhealthily low on charge.
