Longboard design since 1980s

Has the design of Longboards changed/improved a whole lot since 1980?

I presume epoxy has come into play making them lighter.

I'm looking at an older fibreglass board (1980s) but wondering if I should hold out for a newer version. The board felt nice to me but I don't know much about longboards weight and shape.

Do you own it or is it for sale, who shaped it? If you are starting out and it floats you well then it probably is perfect for you so way worry if the price is right buy it.

It all depends on who shaped the board, and what it was shaped to do. Board design has changed but most surfers would be better off on an "ordinary Joe" long board than something high performance.

Nice one.
I haven't purchased it yet. It felt nice, weight wise.
I've been on the lookout for a few months, there seems to be only a couple appearing for sale secondhand every month or so.
I'll probably go for it. Thanks.

Make sure the glass hasn't got brittle, I've a 40 year old board and it is very easy to ding. Who shaped it? Is it a Chapter board? If so buy it now!!!!
