Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pup Upset stomach

04-01-2011 6:51pm#1just asking for some advice for a friend who brought the pup down vet today havent heard back from her yet.
he's a 4 month old GSD, vomited the other day and had a worm in the bile/food so brought him down to the vet the next day!
anything special you could recommend to help the bugger along:)
hoping its nothing serious like parvo picked up from another dog

I would say there's not a whole lot of specific advice we could give you here as if the pup is already in the vets, it'll be in safe hands! And the vet will know the best advice to give you, depending on what the cause is.
Lots and lots of things can cause vomiting, these range from serious things to non-serious once off things. (To give you an idea...dietary allergies, tummy bugs (bacterial and viral), eating bad food out of the rubbish bin, worms/parasites, eating stones/toys etc that get lodged in the stomach, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney failure, liver disease, pancreatitis).. that's just to name a few!
In your case, I wouldn't worry though. It's unlikely to be parvo or anything else serious if the pup only vomited once. If it does turn out to be something like that, then the vet will know from his examination & will probably keep the pup in to begin treating it right away.
It sounds like the best things for this pup are to get another worm dose, and when it's feeling better, to get his vaccinations up to date (if they're not already). Also a bit of TLC and stick to his regular diet, unless advised by the vet. Another tip is that many cats and dogs tummy's don't tolerate milk well so stick to water when giving him a drink.
