I want to study either of these two courses because I love French and feel Commerce/Law would be beneficial and seem interesting.. Problem is I've never done Business (even at Junior Cert) or Law.. Though it also sounds interesting.

Would I need to have done these at secondary school level or does it matter?
    Please help me!

You don't need to have studied either. Everyone will be completely new to law and if you have a look at the college calendar and book of modules for Commerce and French you'll see that a lot of the modules are introductory, even though some people will have done business in school. Doing business for LC will only be small advantage anyway (I assume, I did law) because you'll be going into much more depth at third level.
