Can anyone provide me with a map or description identifying parking areas for motorhomes in Ardmore, Co Waterford please?

We recently went for a spin in our car with the intention of familiarising ourselves with the area for our summer touring. We are planning to start out with a motorhome shortly and are quite excited at the prospect of touring East cork and enjoying all on offer by the irish tourist trade. Ardmore being a very convenient distance from our home in North Cork, we had planned to visit Ardmore in our motorhome this summer (god willing theres a summer). However, having visited Ardmore yesterday, we were very surprised to find such an "anti-motorhome" theme in Ardmore? "No parking" signs directed at motorhomes... Height barriers in parking area?

And even more surprisingly, height barrier at the North Eastern end of the beach where the sight of parked motorhomes was once commonplace? In fact this sight was the very reason we became interested in motorhomes. This parking area in Ardmore seemed to be perfect for motorhomes. The thought that you could have the freedom to park at such a lovely place and enjoy the local amenities without feeling the need to pay top rates at a registered campsite. The "freedom" of motorhoming?

We noticed a sign just north of Ardmore where an opportunist farmer has placed a sign saying "supervised motorhome parking" but after navigating the very muddy and deeply potholed farmyard boreen in our car, we were greeted with... a smelly farm yard. Not a very attractive prospect for the tourist.

We look forward to a reply and we hope to visit Ardmore in our motorhome soon. Unless of course, we are not welcome there...

The anti-motorhome signs in Ardmore were put up by Waterford Co. Co. in response to a request from a small and unrepresentative minority who complained the parked motorhomes spoiling their sea views.

The vast majority of local residents and traders welcome motorhome based tourists visiting their village and contributing the the local economy.

As an alternative Cobh Town Council have no objection to motorhomes parking overnight in the Deepwater Quay car park, aka The Fivefoot Way or Whitepoint Moorings which is in past the footbridge, there is also a very good childrens playground adjacent to the parking area.
