    The Host
    **********
We are really, really, REALLY excited to be providing the Host with his first airing in the Republique, anticipating greatly the melodic wonderland the man is destined to smoothly transport us to. Also known as Boxcutter, "The Host" is Barry Lynn's latest intrepid instrumental escapade, and has seen him further expand the window through which we see his musical makeup. The man will be delivering a set destined both to move the dancefloor and exhibit his incredibly expansive palette of sounds. Recent mixes on the Playground series and on his Soundcloud page should give the Basswax faithful a flavour of the delights to look forward to!

On his eponymous debut album (released on the mighty Planet Mu label) he works in a spacey interzone, using vintage gear to create dramatic panoramas for the headphoned mind. He creates a unique suite of modern impressionistic sonics that tumble and waft in and out of the mix, earthed with strong melodies that take inspiration from net-age genres while never recalling them directly.
The self-titled album is indeed different from Lynn’s previous output, two of the most interesting elements in this being on the never-ending wide-stretch of Planet Mu’s influence with the footwork style rhythms and second, the unmistakable acoustic guitar and bass presence that manages to wrap the album into a warm and fuzzy organic motif. Lo-fi recording techniques of hissing tape and buzzing amps add a touch of 70's psychedelic studio feel, spacey synths and all, to create an atmosphere of this futuristic past.

    Hurry up May 4th!

First experimenting with music production in the mid 90s with a Commodore Amiga and a copy of Octamed, Furian got the loan of a friends Roland MC303 around 2001 and started making drum & bass.It wasn't until 2006 that he got set up with a PC and some software and he's been producing a range of bass and perc -centric electronic delights since then with recent dancefloor and radio exposure.. watch this space innit. The man can also play a range of musical instruments and has been a member of several notable bands including Diatribe and Strange Crow.He released a few choice cuts in 2083 to much acclaim, and has played in all the major galaxies including Zeta Reticuli and Andromeda to name but a few.
