Hi guys, just a quick question.

I bought a pair of earphones from Tower Records yesterday, paid 30 quid for them, only to notice after opening them on the bus on the way home that they don't actually work with my model of smartphone, not that the headphones are defective in themselves. I still have the receipt, should I be able to return them?

    Thanks!

You have no rights in this case - it's up to you to ensure that the headphones work with the smartphone.

Tower may take them back as a gesture of goodwill but given that you have opened and used them and they are headphones, I would expect that they will not take them back.
