Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

it is non-nonsensical to be sending him off to lower level reserves to say the least. Can only hope Blackpool have broken a promise of first team football to the club!

    Regarding the losses reported...

How the hell does a stadium cost 35 million without a brick being laid!

    Oh there are ways.

Look at the regeneration programme in Limerick. Over 100 million spent and no new houses built yet.

Or the Opera centre in Limerick which has cost something like €112 million overall and the old buildings have not ebven been knocked.

H & G are most likely from the same school of business as Limerick CC or he Limerick regen authorities. :D

I would have gotten out the crayola and knocked him up a picture for half the price. :)

Granted the drawing might be a little rude towards him, but it would be a Kess original. :D

Shelvey, Wilson, and Jova were Rafa's last signings. Both had signed in advance to join the club at the end of the 09/10 season.
Wilson was a Hodgson signing was he not? I know we were linked with him while Rafa was there but the deal was constructed and signed after Rafa had left, the website in the link although not official is usually spot on.

@andersred believes the underlying Liverpool loss could be a lot bigger close to 35m but was offset by the 41m profit made on Torres.

I would recommend people follow him to get an idea of what's going on after the accounts are officially released tomorrow.

What about the loss made on Carroll? How is that not the same as the profit made on Torres?

I'm not but he explained it on his twitter timeline to someone else it's to do with some accountancy rules possibly because Carroll becomes an asset on the books?
This is the tweet maybe someone with a better accountancy background can explain it

"@andersred: @vdysvik It's accounting profit versus amortised book cost. Purchases irrelevant, only sales. FRS10 under UK GAAP!"

He's usually pretty good, swissamble I think the name is too.Might actually visit twitter to see! Between Hodgson, the stadium, selling deadwood, poor value for money on signings, not great reading.

Did Ayala get any first team games at Liverpool?

He's spent a fair bit of time on the injury table this year, has he not?

Ayala missed September and October due to a knee injury and has been out since February with a hamstring injury. Dalglish still sold him for £850k which seems pretty cheap.

He played games for us in 2009/2010 and spent last season on loan with Derby and Hull. He only started one league game and in that we beat Stoke 4-0 at Anfield.
Our line up that day was: with goals from Torres, Johnson, Kuyt, Ngog

    Reina
    Johnson--Ayala--Carragher--Insua
    Lucas----Mascherano
    Kuyt
    Gerrard
    Benayoun
    Torres

Pretty sure that, like Jova and Shelvey, he had signed a pre agreement early in 2010 to join Liverpool in the Summer.

Hodgson was the manager of the club when Jova, Shelvey, and Wilson joined but he cannot be praised or criticised for how the players did or will turn out.

Luckily for Roy we'll just judge him Poulsen, Konchesky, Jones, Aurelio, Cole and Meireles so

That's a great side and doesn't even include Aurelio, Alonso or Agger. We were so close to creating a truly special team. It all fell apart with the departrues of Alonso followed by Mascherano, Torres and Benayoun (players we still haven't properly replaced)and then Rafa. Rafa has to take some blame for his extremely poor signings in the last 18 months, but he was also under enormous pressure from above.

Somthing that Helix put up in the Villa forum that some might find interesting. Basically a list of the best paid sports teams in the world for last season.

How have we gone up 2 positions? I thought we cut all of the expensive dross?

**** that's a depressing list. How we only just behind United with so much ****e in our team? Ugh.

That is for last season, the one for this season is not out yet.

More telling is how close we are to United and Arsenal in terms of wages yet so far behind on the pitch.

Spurs did not even get into the top 50, which really is a credit to their pay structure.
