Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not a request for advice, just a query of general application.

Is there any legal obligation for notice of a person's death to be published in a newspaper or other publication of a public nature ?

If yes, what is the legal authority for that obligation ?

    No. It is just custom.

Well. There can be trouble getting certain death benefits from the social welfare. I do remember one benefit requiring a copy of the death notice from a newspaper.

    http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/DeathAndBereavement/Pages/FuneralGrant.aspx
    To apply you need:

    * the original Death Certificate/interim Death Certificate
    * a copy of the death notice
    * a note of the funeral expenses.

Other than that there is no legal obligation to put a death notice in the paper.
