Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In the Market for a LH Taylor or Martin Acoustic

I think I’m in the market for an entry level Taylor or Martin semi-acoustic left handed guitar, budget around 1k but would stretch a bit further. I’ve been playing guitar for a good few years at intermediate level, in bands/trad sessions and gigging solo. At the mo I play a Tanglewood and some of the frets are worn to bits, action is atrocious, the neck is probably bowed from not being as careful as I should have over the years so I’m not sure if it can even be fixed. I’ve had the action looked at before by a pro and even having adjusted as much as he could, action was still quite high. I break 3rd strings quite a bit, could be a combination of bad technique and poor maintenance leading to neck position.

I’m swayed toward Taylor as I’ve never heard one being played that I didn’t love the sound of. I doubt that there is one in stock left handed around the country and so I would probably have to buy online from the Uk. Would people advise against buying online? I.e. guitars have a tendency to sound unique (even those of the same model) so it might be best to play it first before buying? Having said that, like I said above, I’ve yet to be unimpressed listening to the sound of a Taylor.

    Any ideas?

This is what I’m looking toward at the moment:
