Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How to force factory reset on an Android tablet?

I got a cheapo Android tablet running ICS but somehow my sister put it into a battery saver mode which turns the screen blank.

Any ideas on how to force a factory reset?

Holding the power button and combinations of the volume keys hasn't done anything and I can't use the menu as the screen is blank

    Thanks

*#*#7780#*#* - This code is used for factory restore setting. This will remove Google account setting and System and application data and settings.

*2767*3855# - This code is used for factory format, and will remove all files and settings including the internal memory storage. It will also reinstall the firmware.

Thanks for the reply PogMoThoin, handy codes!

Thing is, I can't see anything on the screen so can't input them :(

If you're sure the tablet is powered on it sounds like the brightness has just been set at it's lowest setting causing the screen to go incredibly dark. Try getting an LED flash light/torch and shine it on the screen at an angle, you might be able to make out enough of the screen to change the brightness settings.

What's the make/model of the tablet? Could try some googling to see if anyone else has come across the same problem.

Yep, which is why I suggested it without trying to be condescending.
