Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This newspaper was delivered at a house in Doughiska area today. I could not believe my eyes when a relation posted these picture for us to see.

    See photos

Imagine it is todays paper (FREE) which is distribited to peoples houses in Galway city. It was like person who put through a letter box had done lots with it as it also had been written on etc. In short may I should say a maybe filthy paper.

I can not believe that GA will pay people to distribute disgusting newpaper to someones house that one can not even read, imagine with children in the house, diseases etc.

Can someone tell us if this is usual please?

Looks like the paper might have been wet from the rain, then dryed out?

Overreacting much? Its a slightly dirty crumpled front cover. It hardly carries diseases.

I was expecting it to be smeared in dog crap or something based on the racket you're making. It's a free newspaper delivered to your door and occasionally they get wet and crumple up. Someone probably scribbled on the top paper in the bale at some stage. I've been getting the Ad Rag for years and occasionally (every few years) it happens. I'm not about to go on a rampage about it.

Is it the filthy slut in her underwear that's offending you? I think I know what the delivery boy did with it

I am a bit disappointed that it ruined the pic of the bird in the lingerie ad tho. She doesn't look sexxxay anymore. :-(

nothing about overreacting just better not to drop.

In fairness the huge gouge out of the paper in the 3rd picture may have been what sent the OP over the edge.....:p

Better to buy one than get one that one did not ask for.

There are diseases out there esp viruses etc, better not to drop a paper in a condition they would not like themselves.

Can't you see writing on the top page? said there was more inside also.

Looks fine to me, of course you can read it. It's handy to get a paper delivered if I want one I have to go out and get it myself.

Just another example of how standards are falling all round us. Nowadays few people can even remember the good old days when the butler carefully ironed the newspaper before placing it on the master's breakfast table ...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I understand totally. I was reading an article only yesterday about how newspapers are the most common carrier for HIV and herpes.

Really though, if you're that worried about your kids you should just buy a big bubble for them to live in.

Don't mind everyone OP, I think it's disgraceful. You should ask for your money back.

This isn't even a first world problem. More like a zeroth world 'problem'.

This thread is a load of life-waste.

That's fooking hilarious!! :D:D In all honesty, I was thinking it was going to be some extreme right-wing anti immigration blurb and I groaned to myself and put my head in my hands genuinely expecting the worst. And it's this! Phhheeeew!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,753 ✭✭✭davet82

you should call the newspaper and get the delivery boy sacked or maybe even prosectuted for a start, then onto the solictors and try get some compensation for the emotional damaged you have suffered. Also go public get on to an un-crumbled disease free newspaper and get your story out there!

my deepest sympathies OP and good luck with your struggle for justice :)

    bwahaha..!

Jesus Christ! Talk about a let down I was expecting to read about free porn being distributed not a slightly soggy, torn Galway Advertiser.

OP, cop yourself the fúck on would ya? Bin the damn thing, walk down to the Centra in Doughiska and pick up another copy. They are free and you will find stacks of them in any shop around Galway.

Failing that put up a small sign over your letter box stating you do not want any more papers delivered and you are all set.

No more deliveries of the Hanta virus, Botulism, or the black plague coming through your letter box. Oh how you will laugh when the rest of us are wiped out....

    Joe Duffy OP

Or is there a Galway equivalent?
I never listened to Galway Bay FM. Do they have a champion for the little man?

OP quick, get the bleach. Scrub and decontaminate any surface that paper came into contact with. Scour the flesh from your hands and the paint from around you letter box. Then seal it up. After all post may have been handled by some germ infested, virus ridden post person. Best not to take any chances.

    Perish the thought!
