Here's a thread from earlier in the year about busking in Dublin. It seems you don't need a permit.

As for playing in a band, I can't imagine anyone having a difficulty accepting an Asian girl. Quite the opposite.

Open mic nights are a great way to build a bit of confidence and to get to know like minded people

I'd ignore jokers like this guy when you arrive anyway!
It doesn't matter where you are from, don't mind close minded people like this. Come over, get playing on the streets and take it from there. Enjoy it when you arrive!

There's loads of other foreigners who have found a place here too. Niwel Tsumbo (guitar player from Rep of Congo), Andres Antunes (Brazillian drummer), the list goes on!

Google translate is fun eh? :)

As for the OP. You dont need a permit but can be moved on by the Gardai (Police) sometimes. Once you are not blocking a shop entrance or playing too loud they usually leave you alone though. If you want to play in a pub These guys have had a few foreign acts before and would be worth contacting. Small intimate venue so would be perfect for a solo pianist/singer. Hope you enjoy your stay here!
