Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    And what was the best/worst?

    I've had 9 jobs altogether...

Best was when I worked as a receptionist in a newspaper office, people were great and had the nicest supervisor ever!

Worst was probably when I worked in a hotel kitchen or a frozen food factory, pure and utter crap..

ps. Can someone PLEASE tell me how I edit a thread title....

    I'm 26 and I've only had 5 jobs.

Best - My current (and first "proper") job as a software designer.
Worst - Same as you, working in a hotel kitchen. Crazy chef, spent most of time peeling potatoes, crap pay, crap hours, ....

Serving in a chinese when in college
Summer work in a local company(they had a two week shut down where they would hire local kids to come in and do some cleaning/painting)
Then after college it was in to IT.
On my fourth company since then

Working for my Dad at 14
    Penneys - Stock Room

I certainly hated it... Long shifts, sh*t pay, c*nty manager, a few ignorant co-workers, loud kids f*cking everything up, stupid people asking me for advice on toys.......

Although I did get a few tips for doing very little! That was certainly nice :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,372 ✭✭✭The Bollox

    I have had 7

    cronologically:

    picking spuds for a summer
    working in Super Valu
Working In Lidl (definitely the worst)
    working in a pub
    working in IBM
    working in Golden Discs
    working in Salesforce (still am)

How could a dog do that?

    Edit:

Can I make mine 7? I used to have on my CV that I worked "on a casual basis" for a company that so happened to be the same place my dad works! :p Got a nice reference from them... despite not having ever worked for that :D

Dishwasher, Axa insurance, hardware store, dunnes, factory work, londis, factory work(again)+corner shop, grinds tutor.I think thats it.I'm 22 btw.Hardware store was the worst because the supervisor was a bullying prick.I only lasted a wk there, wasn't the only one who quit because of that.Axa was probably the 'best',although i didn't get much training so it took a while to learn the ropes.

im 25, have had lots of jobs definately more than 10 anyway

Worst job due to the work:
waitress in snooty restaurant. Customers were dog ignorant and pay was like £15 for the whole weekends work...

Worst due to working environment: Hair salon in Portlaoise where the boss/owner was mentally challenged, completely unprofessional, incompetant and just a nasty piece of work.

Best Job: Guess my current one really, reception, sales... its an all rounder.. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,899 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    I'm 23 and have had 8 jobs I think.

Best: Probably the one I'm doing now (journalist)

Worst: Tk Maxx at Christmas time. Dear God it was horrible.

I was a bit of a sports shop whore. Worked in all the big ones except Champion.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,324 ✭✭✭lolly22

Im 23 and have had 9 jobs (so far) liked the people but hated the jobs!!
Currently looking for my 10th job grrrrrr....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,632 ✭✭✭token56

Four jobs well five if i was to be really pedantic about it.

Worst: Labourer, got sweet f**k all money doing rather dangerous work with no insurance.

Best: Current part time job, supervisor in cinema, work is pretty much piss, people are nice and free films is always a bonus.

    * Roches Stores - Working in the old warehouse on Abbey Street (now a parking lot) and then again in the inhouse store
    * Travel agent - Summer/Xmas spent on crappy pay listening to customers book fancy holidays, before online travel became popular
    * IT company - Who employed me for two summers, offered me a job after college, and dropped the offer just before I was due to begin.
    * Technical Writer - for a large e-learning firm. 3 years here.
    * Technical Writer - contract work for a few weeks after being made redundant from previous company
    * Technical Writer - For a few weeks in the IFSC until I finally got out of the bloody industry
    * Large IT consulting firm - Where I passed my 3 year mark last week!
