Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any point in having both oil range and oil heating?

    hello Folks,

    I am installing an oil boiler for heating in my newly renovated house. My intention was to install a stanley super star solid fuel range also. This is how we have always had it.
    However the wife has her friends who all have oil fired stanley ranges and she is impressed. She now claims she is sick of having to clean solid fuel range and its smokey etc.
    So then I decided to install the same stanley type range but oil fired. But, is there really any point?
    So my question is now totally to do with finances and practicality. Is an oil fired range more economical than normal oil heating using a boiler? The boiler is indoor. We generally do not cook on the range anyway,, but use the hob.

    PS anyone know what type of burner these stanleys come with?

    If your not having the practicality of an alternative heat source I don't think I'd bother..

    They come with an Ecoflam burner. Ranges are not efficient and the burners are troublesome.
    Install an outdoor condensing boiler, install some heating controls and save yourself some kerosene in the long run
