You'd get a fair bit. I'm already pretty interested, for example, and you haven't even won yet..

All the Gold diggers will be after you so even if you're ugly you will get lots of interest.

15 million at ca. 5% interest p.a. pay 30% DIRT then 20% on the balance so 367500 interest after tax

Assume 3% deposit interest although you should surely get a better rate = 15,000,000/100*3/52.

    = €8.6k per week.

You would pay 30% of that in tax (DIRT) deducted at source.

You would also be exposed to losses due to inflation and value exceeds guarantees on deposits if with one institution.

    Newbie Noob - what's the other 20% you're knocking off ?

edit :- forgot levies. I would make that 4% on PRSI then USC at 10% effectively (we need not trouble ourselves with the wee bit at the lower rates) so 14% payable on the balance or in total 44% in taxes/charges from the man.

Assuming that you have the self control not to spend any of the principal, I heard somewhere once that the right way to look at it is:
    1% for yourself
    1% for the tax man
1% for reinvestment. [to offset the effects of inflation]
So, You would end up with, roughly, 3,000 per week, tax free, in your hip pocket.
Think you can manage on that?

    Yes.

But you pay tax on interest accrued on sums on deposits, including sums you won on the lotto.
