Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

From a thread on joining the RDF

Corps units are excellent choices if you have an interest in a certain field, or your 'real' job is related - for example, Dublin Fire Brigade medics joining the Medical Corps.

You don't require existing qualifications or experience to join, though an aptitude for the Corps speciality means (IMO) that you will get a lot more out of it.

This sparked a thought (rare enough event) What is the situation on being a member of the RDF if you are already a member of another "service"?

For instance, in emergency planning terms, having a Dublin Fire Brigade medic in the RDF medics could result in double counting of first aid resources.

I was a member of a mountain rescue team myself while also being an Infantry Sergeant.

Certain combinations are permitted, some are prohibited (e.g. Garda-RDF).
